The Bog Walk police in St Catherine have launched an investigation into what led residents of a St Catherine community to chop and injure a man. The incident occurred about 4 p.m. in Magazine Lane, Bog Walk, St Catherine. Even if the men were in a private capacity enjoying what they were doing why would it necessary to enter their premises and attack them?
Reports are that residents of the area heard strange sounds coming from a dwelling. How could residents just readily hear sounds without going if not deliberately to as we say in Jamaica, fass inna people business or by overly inquisitive.
"Is a while that we observed that something not right about the movements down dere so we were ready fi dem," one disgruntled resident said.
This case just shows how profiling can lead to all kinds of madness and mobbings even in one's own private living quarters; and profiling in terms of not seeing a female visitor(s) on a regular or any perceived opposite sex intimate partner.
compromising position
The residents contend that when checks were made, the two men were reportedly caught inside in a compromising position.
An alarm was made and an angry mob started to rain blows and chops after descending on the house.
One man reportedly ran and escaped while the other suffered chop wounds to the upper body.
He was rushed to the Linstead Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition. As usual such cases go nowhere in terms of closure as investigations die after a while either due to an unwillingness out of fear by the persons involved to identify suspects and or police ridicule and humiliation and a feeling that in our creaking justice system it is a waste of time to pursue as it will take long to complete with little positive results.
We are going to have to make up our minds as to how we want to proceed and the stick-to-it principle is needed as there is no such thing as microwaveable results for such matters.
I hope the case can come to some sensible end, if not another set of gay men are forced to relocate and start life all over again in another location. One cannot even have a private moment with friends in one's own home especially in rural communities, when is this madness going to end?
Think on these things.
Peace & tolerance
