Principal in 'biting matter' chased from school

In a followup to a previous post on a bizarre biting alleged outdoor sex matter involving two men in Bayside St Catherine earlier in April by Rodney's Arms; news has come he is facing a backlash from parents at his school.

Rodney's Arms Portmore map where the incident took place reportedly

According to the Star News:

The grounds of a Corporate Area school was reduced to a hostile environment last Thursday after a principal, who was on sick leave, visited the premises seeking to continue his duties amid controversy surrounding his absence.

THE STAR understands that students, parents, and some teachers were vehemently opposed to his return to the institution, citing unrest among the school population as well as backlash from community members who were very familiar with what led to his absence.

Our news team was told that the police had to be called in to protect the administrator and escort him to his vehicle, as the crowd that gathered hurled insults at him and threatened to get violent.

To make matters worse, THE STAR gathered that the principal showed up at the school before the end of his six-week sick leave, obviously still feeling the effects of his injuries and was allegedly sporting a urine drainage bag.

The principal in question reportedly lost his manhood after it was allegedly bitten off in a bizarre incident that took place in Portmore, St Catherine, last month.

Following the incident, the police had to rescue the administrator after he was found along the roadway outside a popular restaurant and lounge located in Portmore, bleeding profusely from his private area.

A parent, who was at the school last week when high drama unfolded, told our news team that the principal is no longer welcomed there.

embarrassment

She said, "I attended this school, and now my children are here, and this type of embarrassment is distracting. The students are frightened and they don't trust him. They tell him they don't want him and dem run him weh. The police had to be called in and one of the officer cranked up him gun to scare away the children."

A male parent who also spoke to our news team said he would remove his son from the institution if the principal in question continued working at the school.

"Mi a move my son and send him go another school 'cause a learn mi send my pickney go school fi learn, and pickney look up to principal. Mi nuh want nuh principal trick my child," he said.

Bryon Buckley, director, corporate communication at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the ministry is aware of the disturbance which occurred at the school.

"A team from the ministry went there and spoke to the staff and the principal. He (the principal) was advised by the ministry not to be on the compound so as to quell things," Buckley told THE STAR.

When asked by THE STAR if the principal in question would continue his tenure, Buckley said that was a school board issue and not for the ministry to decide.

The St Andrew North police also confirmed that police were called to the institution to control the situation which had unfolded.

President of the Jamaica Principal Association, David Wilson, could not be reached for a comment.

ENDS

Sadly this is what can occur even as no names were mentioned in most of the reports but of course the proverbial grapevine carried this one onwards. I can only sympathize with him in terms of the scary experience with a mad crowd at your door and you alone to face it. My own incident twenty years ago flashed before me as I read the report.

As we were leaving the airport station under police escort the crowd that gathered demanding we (myself and three co-accused) be released to them to do what they want with us.

I hope some clear resolution can come from this one.

LA Lewis says "Born straight and stay straight," in feud with Ninjaman & Dr Love

So more accusations and counter accusations as to who is gay and who is not, as they say same sh*t different day and now comes this one.

LA Lewis

US-based dancehall artiste and blogger Christopher 'Dr Love' Crooks has hired a lawyer to counter sue LA Lewis for "malicious prosecution, invasion of privacy and abuse of the judicial process".

"LA Lewis has gone too far with this thing now, this lawsuit he is filing against me and Ninja Man is frivolous. I have instructed my lawyers in the US to file a counter suit in the Jamaican courts against this man," Dr Love said.

Two weeks ago, LA Lewis hired a lawyer to begin legal proceedings against Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine and Christopher 'Dr Love' Crooks over a picture disseminated over the Internet, which suggests an intimate relationship between Lewis and Ninja Man's son who is known as 'Spuggy'.

A letter, written by Hannah Harris-Barrington, senior solicitor-at-law, gave the two artistes seven days to retract the slanderous statements and to issue a public apology or legal action will be initiated to recover "compensation, costs and legal interest". The seven days have since expired and LA Lewis is moving forward with the legal action.

NAME SLANDERED

"Ninja man and Dr Love have slandered my name and they will not be getting away with it," LA Lewis said. "I am going through with the lawsuit because the bwoy dem bright. Dem mek mi a lose money because promoters are saying I need to clear up the rumours before dem can work wid mi. LA Lewis is a corporate entity, and I am not playing with them. Mi nuh mix up in a nastiness. Born straight and stay straight," he said.

The allegation has spawned several pictures online some of which depict LA Lewis in what looks like a bridal veil next to Ninja Man's son. LA Lewis has denied the rumours that he is involved in any sort of homosexual relationship.

Last week, Dr Love released a single called Why You Doing It in which he makes disparaging remarks about LA Lewis.

Ninja Man was unavailable for comment. However, the deejay didn't seem bothered by the impending lawsuit since instead of a public apology, he decided to post another video on social media calling LA Lewis several names.

"Who him think him can intimidate? Better mi stop entertain them thing yah...The amount of clip weh we have weh you disrespect and violate people, the whole Jamaica can sue yuh. Even the Queen of England can sue yuh. I am so sorry for you because you are sick," Ninja Man said in his video.

This kind of childish rivalry is just so weird and ridiculous to me it is not funny. Why are we like this that as soon as there is a rivalry entertainers or not the main weapon is to reduce one's opponent to being gay or a battyman?

Sigh

Deejay Che Fyah to Feature Queen Ifrica in 'Battyman' Duet Single

So in what appears to be another example exportation of Jamaican homophobia via collaborations with other recording artists a Gambian artist is to feature Queen Ifrica in an upcoming duet simply titled 'Battyman'

Deejay Che Fyah, a Gambian deejay and artiste, is looking forward to dropping a new single called “Battyman” with Queen Ifrica, a Jamaican international female artiste. This just feels like another way for reggae and dancehall acts who cannot release or have difficulty performing anti gay and homophobic inciting violence materials to export it to Africa and get loads of support with very little resistance. Other acts such as Sizzla thrive on such a strategy.

Even acts on the continent also use it to boost their popularity as this previous post shows: Ugandan Dancehall/Afro DJ/artist Bobi Wine now reformed! ...... says he has evolved from homophobia

In an encounter with a local news outlet Observer Light, Che Fyah, revealed that the release of this song is prominent to his career, as he is featuring a great female international artiste, who is well known for dropping conscious vibes with superb lyrics.

“The song is all about discouraging Gay (battyman) and Lesbian styles. I did a song with Lutan Fyah and I’m still working to do more with other international artistes too,” he said.

According to him, his mission in music is huge and being a deejay and artiste, he has a great role to play in the development and improvement of the Gambia’s music industry.

“It is very important do collaboration with good and international artistes as it will avail you the opportunity to get your voice heard by many international audiences,” he concluded.

We need to recall how this thing specific to Ifrica started though and remember sometimes a wrong strategy can lead to unneeded issues as this latest development in my mind shows.

Here is an old interview with Ifrica, JFLAG's Dane Lewis and Tony Rebel on Nationwide on the issue with here performance at the Stadium and her promarriage remarks.

Another forced eviction to report ............

Hope remains while company is true.

So another forced eviction incident has come to hand which occurred in July of last year, it came to hand as I stood in the long line in Scotiabank why the lines are so long I do not know when I felt a tap on my shoulder and there was an old party patron I have not seen in ages who looked rather well and we greeted in a quite friendly manner and dished ever so covertly non effeminately about parties passed, queens on shows and stuff. We chatted and after being served in the bank moved our conversation to the car park at Oasis Plaza by his vehicle.

Then he floored me but thankfully my constitution was strong not to actually fall when he related a tale of his forced eviction in the Syndenham Area (an area that has factored before in previous cases of forced evictions and homelessness squatting and homophobic threats issued) due to robbery and subsequent discovery by the robbers of photos and other paraphernalia with other men, this sounds similar to the Steve Harvey home invasion in 2005 by gunmen who in turned took him away after supposedly discovering photos on a laptop, other paraphernalia and all males living in the shared rented house. He was found dead with several gunshot wounds and cuts suggesting there was some torture before the execution of Harvey. In this instance though the impacted man was not home and upon his return he found that there was a break in.

Things were missing such as an unused phone, jewellery, shoes and clothes, small appliances such as an iron and the house was ransacked even in the bathroom with items such as bath soaps, bath gels and even tissue, The front door knob was pried open and the house is not grilled hence easier access. The man had gone out on an errand he said and he now surmised he was being watched and possibly timed upon his departure on the day in question; this was near midday which gives credence to his supposition. However the matter was not reported to the police as he had planned to do so the next day after assessing the situation and actually determining what was taken and the damage done, possibly dollar value estimates as well. The night in question he received a knock on his door and voices outside, he asked who was it and the person said we know who robbed you; upon opening the door he was met by two men who claimed he was gay (a battyman) and that the men who came were looking for him and he should leave the house. They also hurled insults upon their departure and the man stood struck by the surprise incident.

The visitors were adamant he should leave as soon as possible but how they came to such knowledge to date boggles the mind and he suspects that after the robbery persons may have entered the premises and searched the strunned materials etc. the matter was reported to the Spanish Town police precinct and they arrived to examine the scene; but he may never get it solved as the scene may have been contaminated by the ‘visitors’ or persons linked to them and the man did not know them as residents in the area as he does not really interact with many persons except immediate neighbours; a challenge some Jamaicans have in middle class neighbourhoods and when things happen hardly any help can come or cooperation. The police tried the man said but as the place was dusted for fingerprints and materials collected (after he removed homo-hinting materials) the cops said it maybe difficult to find suspects and a lack of eyewitnesses.

So this one looks like another cold case for now until some new or substantiated evidence or witness statement comes to hand; apparently at the time of day of the robbery no neighbours were home to see strange movements. Some miscreant(s) somewhere may simply get away with this one, thankfully the man has found a new place to rebuild his life and good friends are better than pocket money; that one I can attest to when it comes to informal crisis intervention or temporary shelter options.

Good to see this one with a positive outcome although justice has not been fully served.

Male CSW slapped up for ‘poor services’

A male commercial sex worker in Montego Bay and who was one of the persons who was released some weeks ago after a net-fishing exercise by police in a bid to clean up the streets as it were was met with some violence by a dissatisfied client on the weekend nearing the infamous ‘Dump Up’ beach as both men left to find more privacy around 2am last weekend. According to confirmed reports the particular commercial sex worker after leaving a group of colleagues gathered after successfully negotiating the attention of the client was seen returning to the group he left some ten minutes later.

The aggressor is an intermittent customer and is known to both the males and female commercial sex workers but not with an aggressive streak; he engaged the male commercial sex worker and then walked off to find a suitable spot but an argument ensued on what seemed to be unsatisfactory services provided or the conditions of the service provided was not to the customer’s liking. The report from the side of the ‘customer’ was the male commercial sex worker had effectively halitosis (bad breath) which did not sit well with him as it was oral sex he had requested; the commercial sew worker however whether from embarrassment or otherwise claimed that the man wanted more without increasing the agreed figure relative to the services offered.

The aggressor reportedly slapped up the commercial sex worker and pushed him to the ground with light bruises on the right elbow as evidence. His story is also coming on the strength of an unconfirmed report of a shooting in New Kingston of a longtimer who is now battling for life in hospital on the early morning of April 12am; she reportedly according to two sources was peddling her wares as usual when a male customer engaged her but it turned out to be a disguise for an attack on the msm/transgender persons who congregate at various points in the area even after the clearing of the Shoemaker Gully in 2014 and subsequent movements to older spots such as the previously demolished Millsborough Ave House lands.

See this previous post:

Such are the perils of our least amongst us while more privileged persons are more interested in image building or branding via social media; the Mobay commercial sex worker though shaken up by the incident as the man quarrelled most loudly of his dissatisfaction. There was some laughter from rival commercial sex workers mostly female who ‘bitched’ on his failure to secure a client and that women are better. Police have been patrolling the spots yet still in a bid to dissuade the men and women who often cannot find work or are employable. Some interventions were attempted by various groups and individuals but sometimes the usual slacktivism turns up; the Peace Management Initiative PMI initiative for example turned out to be nothing more than a lovely report to impress the UK funders as nicely said by host of CVM TV’ Live@ 7 on May 15, 2015 when representatives appeared on the show.

Other outfits such as the Sex Workers Association of Jamaica, SWAJ when I spoke to its president concerning a different matter two weeks ago suggested he is constrained by lack of funding; a common complaint by such outfits who really want to move on grassroots issues. Other more resourced outfits though claiming they have grassroots work going do not seem to touch the grass blades let alone the ground from which the grass springs. The slap up obviously was not reported to the police either which raises another matter as when CSWs actually have a genuine complaint will the cops actually listen or take a report while not connecting suspect ‘prostitution’ as grounds for detention and non engagement.

We may recall the encounter with one of the homeless msm/csw and a police man and how that played out; shows us that we need way more work to be done in providing some way out for said populations without appearing to want to ‘save them’ a challenge that is hard to border on as the issues slap us all in the face.

Think on these things.

When Jamaican Homophobia turns up overseas

Couple claims House of Fraser staff called them ‘c**ksuckers’ and ‘batty man’

Sad when our awful homophobia finds its way into other jurisdictions and shows itself most disparagingly.

Reggie Taylor (left) and his fiance David claim they were subject to homophobic abuse while shopping at House of Fraser (Picture: Getty)

Metro News provided some of the details.

A London-based DJ and his fiancé have claimed they were the target of homophobic abuse while shopping at a House of Fraser branch in London.

Reggie Taylor (known as DJ Fat Tony) and his fiancé David were shopping at the department store in Victoria on Tuesday when staff members were allegedly abusive toward them, calling them ‘c**ksuckers*.

The couple say they were trying different perfumes when a member of staff started pointing and laughing at them.

Reggie told PinkNews that when he approached the staff member and asked her why she was laughing, she replied: ‘I ain’t got no problem with you.’

He also claims the security guard called them ‘batty man’.

When they tried to make a complaint, the manager refused to take them to somewhere more private and refused to believe the staff member was homophobic or remove the security guard from the shop floor.

The DJ attempted to record the ‘abusive, intimidating and homophobic’ remarks on his phone but said the security guard threatened to ‘smash’ it if he did.

While trying to leave, the security guard then called him a ‘c**ksucker* and called him a ‘batty boy’ again.

The department store told Reggie that they are investigating the incident and will give back the £200 he spent in the store.

A House of Fraser spokesperson said: ‘We are incredibly disappointed to hear that a member of our staff has allegedly been abusive to a customer.

‘We take these allegations extremely seriously and are currently investigating thoroughly. At House of Fraser, we do not tolerate any type of verbal or physical abuse.’

The entitlement problem from hypermasculine MSM & negative outcomes

US Rapper Wiz Khalifa - standard imagery of how some local men ideal of gangster imagery and style emphasizing bravado/hyper-masculinity

So I like many other gay and bisexual men in Jamaica ran into one of these hyper-masculine types (that I really like) in early 2014 in my community and we have had a couple quick sessions mostly as partnered masturbation as preferred by him as he has a minor erectile dysfunction challenge (I swear it is a overuse of ganja caused). These fellas usually unemployed or unemployable heavy marijuana users, expensive clothes wearing types to project affluence in some respects while displaying a public homophobic stance, misplaced bravado to project strength are sometimes on the downlow (the louder they ‘bun fire’ the more likely I say) and usually tie in secrecy, expected payment of some sort (mostly financial) such as access to a more or unexposed better quality of life one may enjoy and a feeling of someone owing them some obligation or the entitlement phenomenon due to their masculinity or bravado real or imagined that they use to stamp their identity on those who they engage and also themselves as a form of self validation of manhood.

They usually use their endowment, naturally well defined bodies and even nonexistent effeminate traits (fear of the feminine) as bait or bragging chips for engagement with other more affluent yet less masculine men which right away implies hetero-normative role play in such non romantic male sexual liaisons.

In previous posts I had looked at the ‘Battyman Entitlement Phenomenon” from a different perspective that of where is crosses with advocacy and HIV prevention work as evidenced in disruptive behaviour by sub groups under the MSM umbrella hence given justification by some non state actors to refuse or hesitate to engage such groups and individuals. Take a look at the ongoing homeless MSM challenges between JFLAG, Jamaica AIDS Support and others and it is clear that version of entitlement as it comes with an public effeminacy component to embarrass such agencies seeing such displays are frowned upon by not only general society but by more privileged or elitist MSM who often sadly are the managers of such programs or NGOs. Here the class divide also presents itself as problematic.

also see more for that side of things:

The Flip Side: A response to the MSM homeless controversy and Some considerations ….. would you assist someone who has been displaced ???

with supporting audio from 3 years ago:

Earlier this month the dude I had mentioned came by my house as he occasionally would but this time unannounced (maybe he feels prior successful visits now qualifies him to turn up freely) as he would call prior to arriving and make his requests usually precursory by a money request in an Anancyist type or roundabout way (not that we were in a commercial arrangement officially) “bossy mi a ask fi a 5 bills” (my friend I am asking for $500) (“bossy” is a colloquial style of flattery suggesting a boss like or elevated position of the persons who is so named) or words to that effect. He like others would not out rightly ask for sexual favours directly unless he like others felt or have a dominant role in the liaison but when in person would hint to same or as in this case go as far as displaying his penis not erect to suggest what he came for, bearing in mind his reasons for most visits is for assistance in getting a release due to his performance challenges. Such masculine types (sometimes operating on a social construct of compromise in non romantic same gender liaisons) do not ask for sex that easily unless it is context in a position of dominance as passiveness is seen abhorrently in the quest of protectionism of their ego. We did eventually satisfied each other orally as successfully achieved before, an unusual arrangement again from my understanding of how these types operate as passiveness as hinted above is not the norm in such sometimes mechanical sexual contact as defined by them, sometimes one gets a list of don’ts prior to sex action that are too sensitive for their comfort the sex is very mechanical and must also reflect masculine ideals in a few instances in my experiences; for example no kissing, no tonguing of the ears or there erogenous zones or even touching of the buttocks as that implies passive positioning or feminine role play. He was quite comfortable and willing from the onset to return the oral favour to me which makes our sessions interesting devoid of cautiousness on what I do or want to request.

Some hyper types insist on demanding sometimes to be in the ‘top’ or dominant position in whatever sexual arrangement be they penetrative or not. After our fun he then asked (at 10pm at night) to sleep over as he claims he could not enter his community at that hour which I knew to be untrue to which I responded no as he turned up unannounced (used more simpler language) and he was lucky I had no guests or family coming by or over-nighting so he was accommodated; to this he reacted angrily. Our exchange of words lasted a while then he decided to play the soften up card where he offered more sex as a way to cool tempers but I knew where he was going; cannot fool me. Such demands or insistence of dominant role play is very important for some and they will defend it to the ground if needed with sometimes very violent reactions, my short experience in prison both as an incarcerated gay man charges for buggery and as HIV Prevention officer for a certain NGO has exposed me to those demands in more ways than one. The man don’t bow ideology is as real as the air we breathe and any suggestion otherwise gay, downlow, prison wife phenomenoned or behaviourally bisexual may elicit a violent response if he fees dissed or reduced or belittled,

Even after acceding to my bredren’s request for the $500 and the second suck-session he still asked for $300 more afterwards and said he would link me some other day soon, I cautioned him however to call as he often did before prior to turning up ad that not all of his visits would result in sex. I was a bit annoyed by the occurrence although I am used to it with others before like him in similar circumstances, friends refer to the same problem of entitlement occasionally too. I have other male buddies who jack off or get into oral sex from time to time and the pattern of entitlement is clear in most cases of masculine men who hail from mostly lower socio-economic classes who come with already pre-conceived notions of class victim-hood by virtue of their social standing and less affluence, long held or cultivated views of gay men in the middle class having more affluence and real disposable income (partially true given lesser obligations as opposed to heterosexual men in common law unions or marriages).

I do not get that type of demand or response from white collared, middle class or more affluent men who I bed as their goals and imperatives are different.

It is such hypermasculine versus other type man on man setups that sometimes lead to awful outcomes, murders included of some of our brothers (often describe as crimes of passion by anti gay voices) I as addressed it in a podcast recently as the issues of power differentials between men involved in sex with each other playing out in the complex mix of:

Class, identity,

Misplaced bravado heavily relied upon

Masculinity,

Sexuality, sexual orientation,

Fears (especially of the feminine)

Loss of power (real or imagined) psychologically

Imperative of maintaining the sex secrets and blackmail in some cases

A recent lecture at Kingston College’s 90 anniversary celebration activities and Founders week (wherever April 16th falls) as presented by Reverend Dr Marjorie Lewis (formerly involved in interfaith/LGBT talks I was apart of in 2009 – 2010 at JFLAG) of the United Theological Seminary spoke to some of the aforementioned challenges (excluding homosexuality directly) in masculinities. Ironically KC the goodly previously all male North Street school (now allows girls into sixth form) has been labelled ‘Ketch Man College’ (Catch a man college) by some including former students who are gay or bisexual as a joke suggesting gay intent and connections there jokes aside, even our young seem to buy into it as if homosexuality is contagious in part and then situational homosexuality in another via prolonged daily socialization of the males.

Remember the uproar after UWI Lecturer Dr Carolyn Cooper’s poorly written satire of the past student advertised all male only dinner?

Reverend Dr Lewis addressed manhood via a lecture entitled Who a di real man? (Who is the real man?) ‘Reflections on Reformative Masculinities.’ It dealt with how ‘real men’ can find ways to reinvent themselves in society in positive ways supposedly. Present deputy head boy of KC Jaevon Brooks in a radio interview said that redemptive masculinity is when try to see themselves as superior one should know when to dress back or correct oneself after doing something wrong, suggesting the over reliance of bravado to stamp identity. The issue of soft men came up and that men who were ordered were assumed to be gay and non conforming to which Mr Brooks replied that men should be confident in themselves and that labels should not bother one.

The Brian Williamson case for example brings that out clearly, often described as a homophobic motive murder by LGBT advocates when the accused (now serving life in prison) ‘Wingee’ was one of the very fellas who the deceased was assisting financially as he was aided in starting his newspaper sales but the entitlement phenomenon shows up. Unannounced visits despite Brian’s insistence of not doing so, unusual security features on the property including electrifying the perimeter fence to stop persons from scaling it to attend the then Club Entourage (I was one of the resident DJs); the membership only policy to supposedly get rid of the riff raffs but it did not stop them.

It is these internal sub group challenges in socialization under the MSM umbrella that has clouded advocacy in as far as crisis reporting or communication in justifying gay on gay (or downlow) violence versus genuine homophobic cases. Thankfully my party involved in the outlined matter was not one of those (thus far) that seem to lapse into the guilt and shame contemplation activity that sometimes present itself every now and again. Sometimes there are expressions of regret after sex suggesting they were forced or overcome by the urge in the moment as they supposedly do not subscribe to gay sex or want to stop practicing altogether but fall into it yet still. Hence the attachment of money requests I suspect, of course this outside of substitutional sex as well as many of this men are either naturally gay, bisexual or at least behaviourally so. Sometimes I swear if one could open the minds of these hypermasculne types while involved in man on man action the fantasy would be about a woman in a type of psychological switch hitting fantasy whilst feeding a desire for a quick release through whatever male who is available at the time, seeing that sexual demands from women can have some hurdles to overcome some natural (menstruation), convenience (space not available or children in the way) and others refusal or sudden dislike by the woman.

Nationally the entitlement problem or idea is endorsed somewhat via dancehall music, one could argue whether it is a chicken or egg scenario as art imitates life. Songs such as the now rare Buju Banton’s ‘Oman a mine me’ (A woman is supporting him financially) is one such track that emphasizes such entitlement of men suggesting subservience of women and indirectly a similar idea in same gender non romantic liaison seeing that there is some rubbing off or burrowing of those ideals. In today's Jamaica this idealistic stance is almost so real in the majority as more women evidenced by university attendance and living single are the bread winners in heterosexual relations and are delaying having children or even a male partner more a boy toy in some sense.

It also reinforced indirectly in criminal activity through extortion in certain geographical pockets of the country, young hyper masculine men who feel they will never make the formal education and employment systems feel justified in open reliance of collecting money using duress and intimidation for flashy lifestyles, multiple partnering (female and a few instances male) and according their version power unto themselves to match affluence of mainstream successes. The MSM populations like all other sub groups are a microcosm of society and will reflect those national practices uniquely modified in said subgroups.

Man Bites Another in Argument after Allegedly Called a Battyman

"Battyman" in Jamaican parlance is the main word used to describe a male homosexual or an effeminate man wanting supposedly in the minds of the user to become or play the role of a woman, men do not take kindly in some instances to the use of the word to label them or as insults in an argument.

The ease at which in some simple arguments the use of such words or related ones can lead to near death consequences is shown here in this latest court case as outlined below. Damaging words in a verbal spat can lead to all out physical violence, as has happened repeatedly in Jamaica, men arguing in everyday comings and goings use words or expletives such as "Fish" "Battyman" Suck-pussy" and other such words that imply a feminization or weakening of the offending party's position if not literally then psychologically as power differentials play out so as to score points.

An intervening party also found himself in some challenges after trying to calm the situation with the original two men who were arguing. The above words however did not appear or were mentioned in the official case report and court proceedings but hints were made to such effect carefully and respectfully in front of the bench.

St Ann Resident Magistrate Court

A man who bit another on his left thigh said he acted in self defence because he was under attack and had to do something to defend himself. Lancaster Seivwright and Roman Fields appeared in the St. Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrates court on Tuesday, March 5, before RM Peter Wilson in a case and cross case. The matter was brought to my attention via an email from someone who is close to the situation.

Both men are charged for unlawfully wounding each other.

In the case against Seiwwight, the court was told hat on December 15, 2014, he bit Fields on the left thigh. Seivwright pleaded guilty. Fields is accused of using a machete to slap Seivwright and chop him on his hand. Fields too pleaded guilty but said it was in self defence. The court heard that on the same day, Fields armed with two machetes was involved in a dispute with another man. Seivwright intervened verbally and this reportedly angered Fields who changed and directed his anger towards Seivwright. It was at that point the words named above were used allegedly at him and also the other two men were already at each other in anger as well supposedly using the terms.

A scuffle developed between both men and during which Seivwright was reportedly slapped and chopped. In making his case of self defence, Fields claimed that he was attacked by another man and that Seivwright came on the scene and enquired what was happening.

He said he and Seivwright started to argue and that Seivwright attacked him and bit him. “You a tell lie and that couldn’t be self defence,” Seivwright said before he was told by the RM to be quiet.

Seivwright later told the court that Fields left from a bar and came to where he was and chopped at him. He said in order to avoid serious injury he jumped on Fields and bit him. Fields was told by RM Wilson to “fix up yuh story.’

Both men were summoned to court and were bound over to return on June 4 when their case will again be mentioned. Fields remains in police lock up though in relation to another matter also before the court.

A previous case shows us how the use of the word can cause issues where 3 schoolboys were tried after allegedly beating another male student and the "battyman" or "battybois" term was used repeatedly, see more HERE: 3 Schoolboys face the court for beating other male student allegedly for calling them "battybois"

The ease at which an allegation of homosexuality real or imagined can blow up into a major challenge and embarrassment is proven in this matter.

We know that calling someone a battyman is the easiest way to belittle any man gay or straight but when it gets to hints to the accused sexual practices in intimate private times again real or imagined is where it gets problematic.

Accuses deejay of not taking care of child

Masicka performing live

As dancehall artiste Masicka tries to find a stable footing in the music industry after leaving the Konshens-led SubKonshus Music last year, another hurdle has come in his way, as a woman is alleging that he is not taking care of their son.

On February 5, 2014, a Facebook group, 'Masicka Fi Mine Him Son' was created and already has 145 members. The description on the group says, "Encourage unu DJ fi mine him son."

On that same day, someone commented in the group and said, "go to court and tell them you want to take out a summons for him and them will deal with it from there ..., but how I don't see any pic with you and him?"

To that the person who created the group responded, "He is never around so you won't see a pic of me and him."

In addition, numerous pictures of the child were posted in the group. The same child can also be seen numerous times on Masicka's Instagram page.

But the woman did not stop there, as she also took her rant to Instagram earlier this week, where she launched an attack on the artiste, but deleted the post some hours later.

In that post, the woman accuses him of being a homosexual, as well as someone who engages in oral sex.

"Himbuss before him. Oh wow! Waste a everything. Si mi and rush mi nuh dawg a dat yuh fi do. Loud and proud ...; defend it and mek people dead now," she said, in the Instagram post that was made on Monday.

The WEEKEND STAR said they tried to get in contact with the woman who made the posts but was unsuccessful.

However, when Masicka was asked to comment on the matter, he said, "no, no time at all. Mi tek mi family thing and mi son personal."

Meanwhile, since the start of the year, Masicka has released songs like General A Road, Just Can't Do It and Waiting.

Even in the man is bisexual then why is it needed to go public with accusations to destroy someone who has a child, is this the example that is being set for the child involved, effectively training the soon to be grown up kid to hate?

Sad that this is the adult rubbish out there today. Besides he is cute gay or not:

Men Clash at Beauty/Barber shop - One accuses the other of 'rubbing up' on him

Customers inside a hair salon in the Kingston 9 area on Sunday had to intervene in an argument between a homosexual male and another man that they claim could have turned deadly. One accused the other of 'looking him' by coming into close contact with the other in a suggestive manner.

Information reaching GJW is that about 5 p.m., the alleged homosexual entered the salon to collect a set of house keys from a female friend who was inside the establishment.

However, while entering he allegedly brushed against a male customer who was waiting to get his hair braided.

Gay Jamaica watch was made to understand that that's when things turned ugly.

"Mi only hear the gay bwoy gi out, mi know say yuh like how mi body feel but mi nuh like how yours feel, it too rough," an eyewitness told GJW. The outward open display of affection wrapped with effeminacy was instantly rebuffed by the upset man.

sign added for effect

She explained that it was at that point that the male customer brandished his ratchet and attempted to launch an attack. He, however, was prevented from doing so after the operators and customers intervened.

According to the witness, the man who suddenly became boisterous shouted, "A my place, a yah so mi do me head, mi nuh want nuh ... boy up yah."

One customer who was on the scene told another news outlet, "Wha shock mi most a when the ... man say, 'him a gwan like mi a look him, a him more a look me cause a him a rub up pan mi'."

She said at that point the man who claimed he could no longer take the 'disrespect' began chasing the homosexual with the knife. Both men ran out of the shop as the shouting match ensued.

"The bwoy neva have no choice but fi run outa the shop," the customer said.

The ease at which profiling or perceptions of a pass can end up in drama and violence is as real as air and this case and many others shows us quite nicely the realities out there.

Then again as the story goes there are just some inappropriate advances that are just downright poor behaviour; especially if one knows how Jamaica is, so jst avoid certain attitudes and actions and save ourselves the rebuffs and threats too.

Think on these things.

Bad Man Nuh F*** Batty (Masculine Men Don't F*** Ass) (The Fear of The Feminine in JA ) 16.04.15

A look at the fear of the feminine (Effemophobia) by Jamaican standards & how it drives the homo-negative perceptions/homophobia in Jamaican culture/national psyche.

After catching midway a radio discussion on the subject of Jamaica being labelled as homophobic I did a quick look at the long held belief in Jamaica by anti gay advocates, sections of media and homophobes that several murders of alleged gay victims are in fact 'crimes of passion' or have jealousy as their motives but it is not as simple or generalized as that.

The Hypocrisy of Jamaican Anti Gay Groups & Selective Actions of Societal Ills

The selectivity of the anti gay religious voices on so called societal ills is examined in this podcast as other major issues that require the "church" to have spoken up including sexual abuse by pastors in recent times yet mere silence on those matters is highlighted.

Why are these groups and so called child rights activists creating mass hysteria and have so much strength for HOMOSEXUALITY but are quiet on corruption in government, missing children, crime in the country and so much more but want to stop same gender loving persons from enjoying peace of mind and PRIVACY?

Also is the disturbing tactic of deliberately conflating paedophilia with same gender sex as if to suggest reforming the buggery law will cause an influx of buggered children when we know that is NOT TRUE.

MSM/Trans homeless - From gully to graveyard

When are lives interrupted be allowed a real honest chance to move from interruption to independence and stability? I just cannot tell you friends.

An article appeared in the gleaner today that just sent me into sadness mode again with this ugly business of LGBTQI homelessness. The author of the piece needs an intervention too as he (Ryon Jones) uses terms such as cross dressers and or homeless men which if transgender persons are present they cannot be described or seen as such, sigh another clear display of the lack of impact and reach of so called advocacies and advocates who are more interested in parading as working but really aint having much impact as they ought to or claim.

We are told of houses being put together from time in memorial; the Dwayne’s House project seems dead in the water, the Larry Chang (named after a JFLAG cofounder) seems stuck in the mud and Colour Pink’s so called Rainbow House seems insignificant in relation to the size and scope of the national problem. JFLAG as presented on this blog is obviously not interested in getting their hands dirty really on homelessness save and except for using the populations as cannon fodder and delegating same; as far as I am concerned presenting them as victims of homophobia which is true but where are the programs and the perceived millions donated or granted since President Obama’s visit to address LGBTQ matters?

Dr Shelly Ann Weeks on Homophobia - What are we afraid of?

Former host of Dr Sexy Live on Nationwide radio and Sexologist tackles in a simplistic but to the point style homophobia and asks the poignant question of the age, What really are we as a nation afraid of?

It seems like homosexuality is on everyone's tongue. From articles in the newspapers to countless news stories and commentaries, it seems like everyone is talking about the gays. Since Jamaica identifies as a Christian nation, the obvious thought about homosexuality is that it is wrong but only male homosexuality seems to influence the more passionate responses. It seems we are more open to accepting lesbianism but gay men are greeted with much disapproval.

Dancehall has certainly been very clear where it stands when it comes to this issue with various songs voicing clear condemnation of this lifestyle. Currently, quite a few artistes are facing continuous protests because of their anti-gay lyrics. Even the law makers are involved in the gayness as there have been several calls for the repeal of the buggery law. Recently Parliament announced plans to review the Sexual Offences Act which, I am sure, will no doubt address homosexuality.

Jamaica has been described as a homophobic nation. The question I want to ask is: What are we afraid of? There are usually many reasons why homosexuality is such a pain in the a@. Here are some of the more popular arguments MORE HERE

Sexuality - What is yours?

The Deliberate Misuse of the “Sexual Grooming” Term by Antigay Fanatics to Promote Their Hysteria

Just as I researched on-line in NOT EVEN five minutes and found a plethora of information and FACTS on Sexual Grooming (and thanks to Dr Karen Carpenter for some valuable insight I found out what Sexual Grooming was) so too must these fanatics go and do the same and stop creating panic in the country.

The hysteria continues from the Professor Bain so called protests to protect freedom of speech and bites at the credibility of the LGBT lobby collectively continues via Duppies Dupe UWI articles when the bigger principle of the conflict of interest in regards to the greater imperative of removing/preserving archaic buggery laws in the Caribbean dependent on which side one sits is of greater import when the professor’s court testimony in Belize went against the imperative of CHART/PANCAP goals is the more germane matter of which he was former head now temporarily reinstated via a court ex-parte injunction. JFLAG Excludes Homeless MSM from IDAHOT Symposium on Homelessness

Reminder

In a shocking move JFLAG decided not to invite or include homeless MSM in their IDAHO activity for 2013 thus leaving many in wonderment as to the reason for their existence or if the symposium was for "experts" only while offering mere tokenism to homeless persons in the reported feeding program. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO ENTRY HERE sad that the activity was also named in honour of one of JFLAG's founders who joined the event via Skype only to realize the issue he held so dear in his time was treated with such disrespect and dishonor. Have LGBT NGOs lost their way and are so mainstream they have forgotten their true calling?

Steps to take when confronted by the police & your rights compromised:

a) Ask to see a lawyer or Duty Council

b) Only give name and address and no other information until a lawyer is present to assist

c) Try to be polite even if the scenario is tense

d) Don’t do anything to aggravate the situation

e) Every complaint lodged at a police station should be filed and a receipt produced, this is not a legal requirement but an administrative one for the police to track reports

f) Never sign to a statement other than the one produced by you in the presence of the officer(s)

g) Try to capture a recording of the exchange or incident or call someone so they can hear what occurs, place on speed dial important numbers or text someone as soon as possible

h) File a civil suit if you feel your rights have been violated

i) When making a statement to the police have all or most of the facts and details together for e.g. "a car" vs. "the car" represents two different descriptions

j) Avoid having the police writing the statement on your behalf except incases of injuries, make sure what you want to say is recorded carefully, ask for a copy if it means that you have to return for it

Vacant at Last! ShoemakerGully: Displaced MSM/Trans Persons were is cleared December 2014

CVM TV carried a raid and subsequent temporary blockade exercise of the Shoemaker Gully in the New Kingston district as the authorities respond to the bad eggs in the group of homeless/displaced or idling MSM/Trans persons who loiter there for years.

Question is what will happen to the population now as they struggle for a roof over their heads and food etc. The Superintendent who proposed a shelter idea (that seemingly has been ignored by JFLAG et al) was the one who led the raid/eviction.

New Kingston Cop Proposes Shelter for Shoemaker Gully LGBT Homeless Population

Superintendent Murdock

The same cop who has factored in so many run-ins with the youngsters in the Shoemaker Gully (often described as a sewer by some activists) has delivered on a promise of his powerpoint presentation on a solution to the issue in New Kingston, problem is it is the same folks who abandoned the men (their predecessors) from the powerful cogs of LGBT/HIV that are in earshot of his plan.

This ugly business of LGBTQ homelessness and displacements or self imposed exile by persons has had several solutions put forth, problem is the non state actors in particular do not want to get their hands dirty as the more combative and political issues to do with buggery's decriminalization or repeal have risen to the level of importance more so than this. Let us also remember this is like the umpteenth meeting with the cops, some of the LGBT homeless persons and the advocacy structure.

Remember JFLAG's exclusion of the group from that IDAHO symposium on LGBT homelessess? See HERE, how can we ask the same people who only want to academise and editorialise the issue to also try to address their own when they do not want to get their hands dirty but publish wonderful reports as was done earlier this month, see HERE: (re)Presenting and Redressing LGBT Homelessness in Jamaica: Towards a Multifaceted Approach to Addressing Anti-Gay Related Displacement also LGBT homelessness has always been with us from the records of Gay Freedom Movement(1974) to present but the current issues started from 2009, see: The Quietus ……… The Safe House Project Closes and The Ultimatum on December 30, 2009 as carried on sister blog Gay Jamaica Watch. BUSINESS DOWNTURN FOR THE WEED-WHACKING PROJECT FOR FORMER DISPLACED ST CATHERINE MSM

As promised here is another periodical update on an income generating/diligence building project now in effect for some now seven former homeless and displaced MSM in St Catherine, it originally had twelve persons but some have gotten jobs elsewhere, others have simply walked away and one has relocated to another parish, to date their weed whacking earning business capacity has been struggling as previous posts on the subject has brought to bear.

Although some LGBT persons residing in the parish have been approached by yours truly and others to increase client count for the men costs such as gas and maintenance of the four machines that are rotated between the enrolled men are rising weekly literally while the demand is instead decreasing due to various reasons.

What to Do .....

a. Make a phone call: to a lawyer or relative or anyone

b. Ask to see a lawyer immediately: if you don’t have the money ask for a Duty Council

c. A Duty Council is a lawyer provided by the state

d. Talk to a lawyer before you talk to the police

e. Tell your lawyer if anyone hits you and identify who did so by name and number

f. Give no explanations excuses or stories: you can make your defense later in court based on what you and your lawyer decided

g. Ask the sub officer in charge of the station to grant bail once you are charged with an offence

h. Ask to be taken before a justice of The Peace immediately if the sub officer refuses you bail

i. Demand to be brought before a Resident Magistrate and have your lawyer ask the judge for bail

j. Ask that any property taken from you be listed and sealed in your presence

Cases of Assault:An assault is an apprehension that someone is about to hit you

The following may apply:

1) Call 119 or go to the station or the police arrives depending on the severity of the injuries

2) The report must be about the incident as it happened, once the report is admitted as evidence it becomes the basis for the trial

3) Critical evidence must be gathered as to the injuries received which may include a Doctor’s report of the injuries.

4) The description must be clearly stated; describing injuries directly and identifying them clearly, show the doctor the injuries clearly upon the visit it must be able to stand up under cross examination in court.

5) Misguided evidence threatens the credibility of the witness during a trial; avoid the questioning of the witnesses credibility, the tribunal of fact must be able to rely on the witness’s word in presenting evidence

6) The court is guided by credible evidence on which it will make it’s finding of facts

7) Bolster the credibility of a case by a report from an independent disinterested party.

Notes on Bail & Court Appearance issues

If in doubt speak to your attorney

Bail and its importance -

If one is locked up then the following may apply:
Locked up over a weekend - Arrested pursuant to being charged or detained There must be reasonable suspicion i.e. about to commit a crime, committing a crime or have committed a crime.

There are two standards that must be met:

1). Subjective standard: what the officer(s) believed to have happened

2). Objective standard: proper and diligent collection of evidence that implicates the accused To remove or restrain a citizen’s liberty it cannot be done on mere suspicion and must have the above two standards

 Police officers can offer bail with exceptions for murder, treason and alleged gun offences, under the Justice of the Peace Act a JP can also come to the police station and bail a person, this provision as incorporated into the bail act in the late nineties

 Once a citizen is arrested bail must be considered within twelve hours of entering the station – the agents of the state must give consideration as to whether or not the circumstances of the case requires that bail be given

 The accused can ask that a Justice of the Peace be brought to the station any time of the day. By virtue of taking the office excluding health and age they are obliged to assist in securing bail

"Bail is not a matter for daylight

Locked up and appearing in court

 Bail is offered at the courts office provided it was extended by the court; it is the court that has the jurisdiction over the police with persons in custody is concerned.

 Bail can still be offered if you were arrested and charged without being taken to court a JP can still intervene and assist with the bail process.

Other Points of Interest

 The accused has a right to know of the exact allegation

 The detainee could protect himself, he must be careful not to be exposed to any potential witness

 Avoid being viewed as police may deliberately expose detainees

 Bail is not offered to persons allegedly with gun charges

 Persons who allegedly interfere with minors do not get bail

 If over a long period without charge a writ of habeas corpus however be careful of the police doing last minute charges so as to avoid an error

 Every instance that a matter is brought before the court and bail was refused before the accused can apply for bail as it is set out in the bail act as every court appearance is a chance to ask for bail

 Each case is determined by its own merit – questions to be considered for bail:

a) Is the accused a flight risk?

b) Are there any other charges that the police may place against the accused?

c) Is the accused likely to interfere with any witnesses?

d) What is the strength of the crown’s/prosecution’s case?

 Poor performing judges can be dealt with at the Judicial Review Court level or a letter to the Chief Justice can start the process

Battle Lines Javed Jaghai versus the state & the Jamaica Buggery Law

Originally aired on CVM TV December 8th 2013, apologies for some of the glitches as the source feed was not so hot and it kept dropping from source or via the ISP, NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED and is solely for educational and not for profit use and review. The issue of the pending legal challenge in the Constitutional Court in Jamaica as filed by Javed Jaghai an outspoken activist who happens also to be openly aetheist.

The opposing sides are covered as well such as
The Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society
The Love March
Movement Jamaica

The feature seems destined for persons who are just catching up to the issues and repositioning JFLAG in particular in the public domain as their image has taken a beating in some respects especially on the matter of the homeless MSM front. They need to be careful that an elitist perception is not held after this after some comments above simplistic discourse, the use of public agitation as beneath some folks and the obvious overlooking of the ordinary citizen who are realy the ones who need convincing to effect the mindset change needed and the national psyche's responses to homosexuality in general.
