Another Sex Tape another Fall, how many of these I can’t recall, I’ve lost count with so much out there but should we care?

Even as the remnants of the Tall Bottle Crew sex tape scandal and leaked videos earlier this year in what seemed a healthy anal penetration scene another such report from two other gay men has come to hand. The Bottle crew is still feeling the after effects of that slip up as they are easily recognised due to high visibility in the dancehall and find it hard to be out in public and threats have been sent their way personally and on various platforms, especially Instagram since then unofficially two cases of a similar nature occurred but details are sketchy. One thing is clear to me is that more and more persons are deliberately capturing their sex but not with a view for spillage I imagine; leakages are the collateral damage consequence.

To think this latest case came on of all seasons Easter on Holy Thursday at that; one party had apparently arranged a hook up with the other party but a third player was in the space and whipped out his phone to see the supposed dick down.

In previous posts I had highlighted the fallouts and unintended outings by way of social media as LGBT visibility grew by leaps and bounds, so by virtue of that accidents were bound to happen as social media skills would have been extremely low especially on Facebook at first. This recent case however started on Instagram where it was announced by a younger gay user, the demographic attracted to that platform; which eventually sent persons scampering to a certain porn site for to see the session between the two men. Problem was that the clip was effectively hacked by some smart whiz kid and thus the viral element was exacted shared all over the place.

A copy was sent my way which is how I came into knowledge of the latest drama, there is never a dull day but one of the parties involved has since been forced into self imposed exile similarly to the aforementioned Tall Bottle Crew members and talk of seeking asylum are floating around, I am not so sure they have an easy ride given the genesis of the troubles. Just a day or so after the guys involved are meeting up on all kinds of issues despite their popularity was not like the Tall Bottle Crew. 

Threats on Instagram, voice notes/WhatsAPP videos also with threats and has gotten to the point where the guys had to relocate to another friend’s house. One of the parties involved is from deep rural Jamaica so he is able to escape some of the nonsense, the supposed ‘cameraman’ had since been in hiding as he is blamed for the leak by the other two and their friends; it may not be as simple as they think. Videos and data on smartphone can be hacked if one does not make the settings work for them. It gets worse the smartphone security software are not installed or the firewalls as in place to offer some protection.

Other privacy settings too may not have been in place but with Donald Trump’s executive order on privacy thus leaving all being exposed to advertisers and hackers alike to see your location or even hack passwords and break into the phone storage. The ‘cameraman’ is on the run and a planned beat down is being planned if he is caught as punishment. Facebook fallouts are also still happing just by a cursory unscientific poll I ran prior to the preparation of this post. The latest on was a Clarendonian youngster in his early twenties and another case in St James. One can conclude that these latest errors may be teething pains for an LGBT community that once was not so visible but one would have expected older persons like myself to be making mistakes more so that the millennials.

Some suggestions and tips

If one is going to document ones frolic one should secure the material as best as possible which could include passwording the file(s) in question or lock them away in a secure folder, also check whether or not one may have inadvertently left the Bluetooth on by mistake or by choosing where one shares the materials as newer APPS are now out there to simply rip the shared or played footage without the owners’ knowledge only to see it all over the place. It is all too easy to hack into or end up with leaks so steps must be taken to handle sensitive materials in storage. Platform settings also are a key component as well in terms of profile settings and such which can help to mitigate the possibility of accidents occurring.

Why oh why would persons capture and save repeatedly sex scenes or orgies, is it a part of the new narcissistic psychology linked to social media? All this happening when the very social media is facilitating a couch potato mentality and less contact in person with others. Normally the whole sex tape phenomenon was seen as an American phenomenon in the world of celebrities, locally there was the infamous early revenge porn case of a former female banking employee whose scorned lover deliberately shared the videos and photos but hardly any legal action could have been taken by her as revenge porn legislation is not on the books but defamation legislation is here however. She has since relocated to the United States. Another two gay men found themselves in some major trouble after a leak in 2015, a family member of one of the parties had to be moving about here and there bordering on homelessness but he was able to settle, his face was in full view of the clip at the time which made his defence it wasn’t him fall on disbelieving ears. One has to be so careful and personally that damned phone has to be off and or not in your hand if we are going to hookup; I will definitely not agree to any shooting of footage during the game only for it to reach in the public domain.

Meanwhile

Unconfirmed reports revealed since this latest case also suggests that a blackmail attempt matter carried over from 2016 has been ongoing given a previously stolen phone with sensitive content is being used as a dangling carrot by the thieves to get money from the phone’s owner who is said to be a businessman. He has not made any payments we are told but frankly I don’t believe that. The extortion attempt is said to be linked to a ring of gay phone stealers who are in cahoots with heterosexual miscreants as well who want some $150,000.00 in return for the instrument. The implications for a leak like that can be grave to include loss of reputation, business downturn as clients see the clips that can go viral in a few minutes. The businessman is said to be reluctant to report the matter to the cops as they would have to open the phone or get passwords to verify its ownership and may have legal implications given the buggery law.

Finally while I cannot tell consenting adults what to do may I suggest persons be ultra careful with the use of smartphones, sex and safety.

Bareback popularity concerns

Given the Safer Sex Week activities and some issues raised in a previous post on this blog on barebacking in anal sex I and indeed some others have concerns. It has surfaced also that some HIV positive men who feel that they do not need to practice safer sex anymore as they are already positive simply enjoy sex in a kind of complacency or abandonment thinking that once they are positive once then that is it; there is no need for vigilance, risk assessments and avoidance of re-infections of other strains of HIV which can be more deleterious to one’s immune system. Albeit that a trend cannot simply be designated within a year or without strong empirical data but cultural practices however can be used as a sign or guide to said trends developing. Just a cursory glance at some private groups on social media or WhatsAPP for that matter or other platforms such as AdamforAdam and hookup sites/blogs suggest more and more men are openly requesting bareback fun even while declaring their HIV positive status, once kept ultra private, it is as if it is a badge of honour to be HIV positive these days and surviving which maybe encouraging to a certain extent but all too risky in other realms. This may be outside of bug chasing or chasers.

Millennials for example have been declaring discomfort with condoms (an old criticism) and with readily available anal hygiene and enema cleansing products in local pharmacies and sex toy shops for example buffered by a kind of legitimization of barebacking in black gay porn men are daring themselves for share pleasure it seems while ignoring that risks are still high despite better working antiretrovirals and that HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence. 

As for the FEMIDOM female condom as an alternative suggested to be used with the inner ring removed that is now being laughed at or scoffed at as the device is deemed too cumbersome and too thick which may be less comforting during sex; with the outer ring also hanging outside seeing it is larger than the rest of the device some say it is like screwing a condom instead of an anus. My own experience recently with a mystery stalker of sorts who found the number on one of my blogs publicly listed where he repeatedly asked for a hookup of sorts (despite not knowing me) and declaring he wanted it “raw” meaning penetration without any barrier or a condom. While it is tempting to do same as the good old 1980s for example in the height of the sexual revolution somebody needs to remind or inform men who have sex with men, MSM in the form of anal penetration that HIV is still out there.

Complacency or near fatalism

The heightened HIV social marketing through Global Fund funded efforts nationally and other NGO work has helped but seems to hurt the thinking and sensibilities involved. Persons have concluded that if I am going to die from HIV it won’t happen soon because I can live long with just a tablet a day similar to other lifestyle diseases as diabetes or hypertension but what some folks seem to overlook or ignore or are unaware of or not properly informed in support groups are that there are several other strains of HIV which while one may be positive with one strain that does not impair their immune systems the newer strain can be far more harmful and only seek to reduce one’s immune system to stay sustained. That ‘I am going to enjoy my life’ thinking no matter what is still out there if one is to go by the comments on blogs and porn related fora on social media. Yes the ARVs or HAART treatments are effective in terms of control of Viral loads and improved CD4 counts but missing dosages too can be a challenge; a point that was forcefully made recently on Facebook by an advocate to a young man who insisted he was going to “Fuck til mi dead”

Hot pumped gym and tattoed bodies, well endowed persons coupled with objectification and just the sheer excitement for younger MSM can turn persons into tongue wagging excited persons who end up making wrong or misguided decisions about sex in the heat of the moment. Sadly the Safer Sex Week impetus is near silent on anal sex between men publicly and seem to want to the rely on the hetero-normative sexual relations psychology to trickle over into gay culture. That type of messaging does seem to be getting through to some, I have heard some men say that when they are with a woman they use condoms with them but when they are with a man they don’t as anal sex is better to them in terms of feelings and the ‘grip factor’ and that includes men who do not identify as gay, given that the concept of the word for some is loaded woman aspiring oriented and so called thugs do not want to be a woman but they still hit ass under the radar. There are other psychologies involved stemming from the prison systems as in prison wife culture, gay for the stay psychology and indeed curiosity that seems to be overlooked by the folks who design these fluffy, sometimes simplistic and patronizing sounding campaigns.

Those intersectionalities with gay men who self identify and those men who don’t with the latter thinking that bareback sex is an escape from reality and therefore no thought of risk must interfere cannot be left out of the mix. There are men out there who really believe that they are not at risk once I do it with a men in secret and that the secret albeit without a condom will not expose them to HIV risk; whilst seeing heterosexual sex as the one to use a condom with an outside female partner other than the babymother or wife. At some point there has to be a reality check and a tie-in of those sub cultural matters.

Touching the anal hygiene matter hinted above while the ‘hole maybe clean’ there is the business of that hole being ‘too clean’ meaning the so called good bacteria maybe washed away if one is not too careful, although the self adjusting PH balance Fleet enemas products for example are out there to help to avoid that destruction of those bacteria if one uses other non traditional forms of cleansing the area is exposed without physiological defences naturally. The gay porn industry is thriving on bareback for sales even while showing disclaimers in the opening sequence of DVDs and streams identifying HIV risking and encouraging testing and single partners; the challenge is that that disclaimer only runs for a 30 second or so period while the rest of the movie sometimes up to two hours long is all about the ass and dick of it thus almost killing the important message.

Antigay (un)bareback anal sex abhorrence

The very bareback issue and the sex police of religious fanatics have sought to capitalise on the matter to enhance their push for maintaining a 486 year old buggery law with all its amendments and adjustments in between. Anal sex bareback or not is not the untidy affair as some such as Dr Wayne West of the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society JCHS has sought to present it to his loyal following and misguided or ignorant persons. He has sought to use the thin lining nature of the area to suggest we are deserving of an HIV as the transmission will be greater which is true but so it is also for the vagina provided if the penetrating partner is already positive. But intellectual dishonesty is part and parcel of the strategy even by so called Christians who misplace God’s purpose to promote hate.

Encourage monogamous or outer-course sexual activity as an option more

Even monogamous unions with uninfected partners and trust have to also consider safer sex issues I suggest; as safety and hygiene are crucial especially the latter but I get the impression that such other considerations are not part and parcel of the MSM interventions more forcefully. Suggesting non-penetrative sexual activity via a penis seems all but missing from the scheme of things is one is to take into account the discourse on sexual matters with younger MSM. I have been trying via my blogs to promote proper anal health but one blogger is not enough and I do not get the feeling

The message has to be repeated more loudly in terms of the risks involved and more openly about barebacking; after all buggery is not proven by mere eyesight but a physical examination by a doctor providing that the accused did not take a shower or enema in between the accusation, the arrest or detention pursuant to preparing the doctors’ report; a report premised on the thinking of no barrier sex and residual materials left behind in or around the anus or sphincter muscle. The doctor’s report unfortunately even in today’s world is still prepared on a thinking of no condoms used in the act in the first instance, it is usually after the examination or during that the harvested samples or culture related spermicidal findings that in the comments section of the standard form the doctor may make a note of the presence of spermicidal material to indicate a condom was present. The reluctance by the NGOs and the national program to openly speak to anal penetration way more forcefully seems a little ridiculous or near unfounded to me in addressing risky behaviour linked to men who are going that route for sexual pleasure.

Safer sex week 2017 ................

The National Family Planning Board Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency (NFPB-SRHA) hopes to make sex even safer this Valentine’s Day during their annual observance of Safer Sex Week from February 12 to 18.

To commemorate Safer Sex Week, the agency will be hosting a Health Fair tomorrow, Valentine’s Day, at the Prison Oval in Spanish Town, St Catherine, at which the public will have access to family planning methods, including condoms, free HIV testing, and other health checks and Valentine’s Day treats.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Condom + Another Contraceptive = #UltimateProtection”, which underscores the agency’s push for dual contraceptive use. Condoms are an effective method to protect against pregnancy, HIV and other STIs, but according to the NFPB-SRHA, it is always best to have a back-up method such as the pill, the injection or an intra-uterine device.

Regrettably, Jamaicans, particularly those within the 15-29 age group, are not practising safe sex every time. This is evident in the latest data in the 2016 UNAIDS Prevention Gap Report which found that the highest increase of new HIV infections is within that age group, the agency said. Additionally, one per cent of all live births in Jamaica are to adolescent girls, many of whom reported that their pregnancy was either mistimed or unwanted.

To address this trend, the agency is imploring Jamaicans to ensure that they, and their partners, are fully protected before engaging in sex, and as a result, the activities planned for Safer Sex Week are aimed at increasing dual method use for all ages.

The health fair will feature performances by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and will be hosted by comedian Christopher “Johnny” Daley. This will be the first official activity as the NFPB-SRHA celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017.

But as usual the business of anal sex between consenting gay adults is quietly slid under the radar so as not to avoid any noise from fanatical religious voices; while the NFPB and others seem to want an overflow of the messaging to gay men to come from heteronormatively tinged social marketing efforts.

Sad that this is the nonsense that still obtains and with the talk sometimes openly by more younger gay men in practising bareback sex as it is seen seemingly to be more attractive given the proliferation of gay porn which tacitly legitimizes it.

But the same NFPB folks as indicated in the post above showed up their lack of understanding in a sense on the issues of MSM sex, risk and a refusal on the face of it to engage bisexual persons who may have wanted to attend the planned freaky party then.

In the meantime I want to encourage persons to go get tested if one is engaged in; barebacking is a challenge though tempting and although we don't see folks suffering via visible AIDS related/opportunistic infections anymore complacency might be an issue not properly addressed with the millennials and younger.

Don’t get mad if your ‘TOP’ got f@cK#*

Is there anything as an exclusive ‘TOP?’ i say no as I have said in previous posts and just the human condition in terms of wants and needs also smash that concept in my view, experience teaches wisdom I suppose.

So the business of hetero-normative sexual role playing has crept into gay life once again by way of a matter close to home. The old beliefs of a hyper-masculine man is a real or more man than the rest of us with a penis has come to define the power struggles and differentials out there sometimes with awful outcomes of violence, indeed psychological torture or stress. Indeed I like many others am guilty of raising ‘Tops’ to the realms of objectification and or worship as they break the stereotypical gay mould of us being effeminate or striving for some sort of womanhood, so a thug type, trade or gangsta is a highly valued prize in the scheme of things and is often used as a trophy to show off to others in a kind of “I got a man” braggadoshiousness when sometimes some of these archetypes also want what we want; penetration that is, as they too feel they have an obligation to fulfil by way of the consummate stud and images of virility must be maintained or he may become the laughing stock on the circuit or reduced to a “bottom” suggesting he has lost his manhood or bravado sexually speaking.

Such masculine types are not expected by the rest of society on a homophobic tinged belief system to be gay; some feeling of being on the down-low is there and sometimes tolerated in some certain circles such as gangland or prison sex culture which some baby-mothers quietly accept. They look the other way especially if the man is a dominant type and maybe violent as well. Effeminacy must NOT be found anywhere a real man and is vehemently opposed when exposed.

I recently had an interaction with a young man who did not know his boyfriend was straying all along although it was known by those parties who engage him, but blind to the fact his man was out and about getting it down with others as he was not getting it at home or was not prepared to ask for certain activities and pleasures with his main partner. The naive young man was of the delusion (I picked in our exchange) thought his man was his man and that he was all man in terms of playing a top role. Little did he know that his man wanted some dick as well but maybe decided not to ask in order to avoid the feeling of failure as a functioning top or be humiliated reputational out there in the field of the grapevine and such.

I had met the guy at an event I was the DJ at earlier this year and we started an extended conversation but I was not going down the sex road at the time although he is gorgeous, what explains how certain men from the lower economic strata just have that natural look without visiting a gym is amazing to me; chiselled torso, six pack, defined muscles, legs and biceps complete with an 11 incher was too good to resist. I too despite my widening learning of sexuality labelled him in the realm of a typical top but as the conversation went he was expressing more non regular thoughts on pleasure; then it came through that he was looking for a ‘different’ experience, that of having a good dick in his ass. So I obliged in time, our closeness had not gone unnoticed and soon word got to his lover whom he the guy did not announce to me he had. We had a few good moments and it ended at least in the sex department and we kept the friendship otherwise.

To be landed with a furious voice via a phone call that I took his man and such was the last thing I expected and it lasted for some time intermittently. In a kind of ‘tek it and cuss dem’ (take the issue that may offend and attack or embarrass one) I landed him with the doing of the deed and I admit I went off on him but then again I realised he was young or sounded so and is clearly not in touch with some of the realities. He clearly did not understand the nuances of a relationship and that role play cannot or indeed should not be defined literally by how one looks in a same gender union. I have often said that we need to unlearn the hetero-normative constructs that have come to define our sexual relationship health.

I feel some of the guys who are inadvertently trapped by definition due to looks and expected virility want to be released, there comes a point when objectification and praise complete with keeping up appearances can be burdensome which is what could explain why hyper-masculine types seek more sexual exploration and nonsexual friendships with older men such as my age over forty and keep a rigid ‘top’ ‘bottom’ arrangement with younger guys as they seem unwilling to be flexible sexually, there is more to life than being seeing as a sex object for spontaneous sex. They tend to seek deeper conversations with older men as well, given my experiences thus far with those types of guys. Sex between men in an ideal setting maybe should not be restricted to who pushes the dick but it should have flexibility as boredom can set in and persons stray outside for pleasure.

Apart from sex there is the business of just cohabiting and non sexual but meaningful interaction in the relationship be it a liaison for a time or a long term union. Even in ‘open relationships’ or gay polyandrous arrangements there has to be some depth or deep connections between parties and not just a hooker call for sex and couple bucks left on the night table when it’s over.

I guess as long as we operate nationally in the highly sexualised environment we are in coupled with the impact of social media exposing us to more experiences and actualities elsewhere the adaptation or cementing of hetero-normative trends in gay arrangement won’t die off so easily. Even in same gender loving women unions we see the phenomenon play out especially with the clash between ‘butches’ versus ‘studs’ and who is considered more authentic or who is seen as confused traversing the sexual spectrum and identity or aesthetics.

The fact of the matter is people should not get mad if they’re boyfriends stray given the scheme of things these days; after all we all have a dick and ass and have feelings, desires and expectations.

Leston setting off the detector

A former Royal Canadian Mint employee has been found guilty of smuggling $165,000 worth of gold from the building on Sussex Drive — apparently in his rectum, an Ottawa judge ruled Wednesday morning.

Leston Lawrence "clearly had the opportunity" to steal the gold because he often worked alone and the security cameras would not have caught him slipping gold pucks into his pocket, Justice Peter Doody ruled.

"His locker contained Vaseline and latex gloves, which could have been used to insert a puck into his rectum," he ruled, adding that there were no cameras in the locker room.

Lawrence set off the mint's walk-through metal detectors more than any other employee without a metal implant — 28 times between December 2014 and March 2015, court heard. But when a secondary check with handheld detectors failed to alert guards to the gold, Lawrence was able to leave with it each time, Doody found.

The handheld detectors are less sensitive than the walk-through detectors, and do not detect metal in body cavities, the ruling detailed.

Though there was no video evidence of Lawrence stealing the gold from the mint, Lawrence was found guilty of the theft of 22 gold "pucks" worth $165,000, and laundering 18 of them via Ottawa Gold Buyers.

The pucks ranged from 192 to 264 grams in weight.

Lawrence's income was insufficient to purchase the gold he sold, the ruling detailed. He was also found guilty of possession of property obtained by crime, conveying gold out of the mint, and breach of trust by a public official.
Bank flagged police

Lawrence worked at the mint from July 2008 until March 2015. His job included purifying gold — jewelry, coins and bars purchased by the mint — by melting it, injecting it with chlorine gas and skimming off base metal until the molten gold was 99.5 per cent pure.

Once he believed the molten gold was pure, he was tasked with scooping some out with a ladle, letting it cool and then testing it for purity. He was supposed to return the pucks into the vat of molten gold after testing.

In February 2015, Lawrence cashed two cheques from Ottawa Gold Buyers — one for $7,992.27 and another for $7,269 — at the RBC at Westgate Mall, the ruling detailed. He told the teller the cheques were from "gold nuggets" and that he wanted to transfer the money to help his parents rebuild a house in Jamaica.

When the teller noticed he worked at the mint, the bank notified the RCMP.
RCMP surveillance

Under RCMP surveillance, he was seen visiting the Ottawa Gold Buyers store at Westgate Mall on March 9, 2015.

The RCMP found Lawrence sold a 24-karat gold puck to the store for $7,966.27, and had previously sold 17 similar pucks to the store for a grand total of $138,172.46.

The RCMP also seized four gold pucks — roughly the diameter of golf balls with a total value of $27,278.84 — from Lawrence's bank safety deposit box on March 11, 2015, the ruling detailed.

Experts analyzed the gold pucks, and found that they matched the purity of gold at the mint. The pucks were identical in diameter to those produced at the mint, and fit the ladle used exclusively by the mint perfectly, Doody's decision detailed.

Lawrence is expected to be sentenced on Nov. 28.

Cruisers continue to bemoan the loss of 'space'

In previous posts I had looked at the travails of mostly the more adventurous Kingston, St Catherine & to a lesser extent St Ann cruising populations, geographical changes predominantly have a direct impact on how their or I should say our sex seeking behaviours are influenced; although I have been so busy I am less active these days but the fellas keep me up to date hence this post. I like writing these posts as it usually attracts some other interest(s) or the curious (smile), despite our unique homophobia we have found ways to survive; meanwhile interventions by the local authorities, continued clashes with displaced and homeless transgender & MSM, crime and police operations, decoys who know the system and use it to rob or abuse if not blackmail persons and so on are the reasons for the decline of activities. Since the murder of one of the regulars known as Frankie at the infamous old haunt at ‘Boil Up’ near to the old ‘Back-a-wall’ in 2015 has had a deleterious impact on happenings, the police intervention with the local authorities of the homeless cohort in January of this year again has had some impact as the relocation to other sites which influences the clashes, especially the more hyper-masculine types.

A nasty fight in April I gather (corroborated by one of my buddies) over a spot by two men who were inadvertently going after the same prey as it were has not helped as a faction of sort has since developed with friends of both men have been in a standoff. Where on side sees the other resistance comes out sometimes in ‘louding up’ the opposing side representative in a bid to stop him from entering the space in what is a scare tactic under fear of a homophobic threat made so by finger pointing. Inevitably the space is there but is hesitantly accessed in fear of exposure, so avoidance of the use of the space thought available is the more acceptable choice.

In the last couple of years we have lost some good long time spaces either due to local authority interventions, development work such as highways in St Catherine where a popular waterway once known for some good early morning hook-ups and dick gazing is all but gone. Former cruisers who now live abroad still inquire about the space and are saddened that the good times are since near dead. A robbery of a regular taxi driver in 2014 who occasionally goes on the prowl has had some impact to this day as though he was not harmed his car was taken, scrapped and burnt out; many of the brothers have simply stopped altogether attending that stretch of space nearing the said waterway. Forgive me but I cannot be specific in terms of locations such as not to dissolve the safety aspects of this matter. The apparent near miss of a gross indecency charge of two men in a car (yet again) downtown Kingston at the waterfront is also an issue for some; even as downtown becomes busy commercially again. has had some impact, the discontinuation of the ferry service to Port Royal too so many years ago was one of the first signs of major changes to come as downtown in fact internationally waterfronts usually have some gay cruising elements operating there. The police are becoming more aware of once clandestine hook-ups have also impacted on the loss of space and repeated mistakes and or discoveries of such effects changes. Mistakes and challenges also can come from within such as a previous post highlighted where a man suffered a broken arm even after some fun the perpetrator just snapped in terms of guilty feelings thinking he was led into doing something wrong despite the fact he was in the space and actively sought out the other man.

The ‘bathroom’ cruiser who seems to operate on a different psychological trajectory; they seem to be more addicted to such venues more so than those of us who prefer more open spaces, they have been at a distinct disadvantage over the years as such venues have simply disappeared by virtue of security being added at their entrances and the vending of toiletries also at the doorways. Mistakes in that sub group also have had impacts in the negative realm as with each instance security features are beefed up. I can remember the Island Life Mall fiasco in 2005 and again in 2008 in the male bathroom stall where the tabloids had a field day and the now carefully monitored LOJ Plaza in Spanish Town with even a mobbing in the early 2000s. The plaza or shopping centre cruising guy though is better placed as he is usually skilled or adept in observing and successfully picking up his hunt more so than those of us who prefer the rarer spaces including old buildings for such engagements. The need for the less talk but a spontaneous quickie is the main driver for people like me than a public link then going to a space or home. To have a dick quick is the key in whatever form, mouth, hand or ass if possible.

One thing that occupies my mind and is yet to be properly explained is why it is MSM who are not in known monogamous relationships are the archetypes who engaging cruising as their sex seeking options?

I am still also concerned about the HIV risk involved when it comes to the aforementioned nonverbal spontaneous hook-up and hence the more the missing risk assessment is present per situation and overall in the space is the more chances of HIV transmission is possible. Barebacking although partnered masturbation is the preferred method for safety and time purposes is not a new phenomenon in such spaces as it throws out the distraction in the minds of some, especially MSM who refuse to see themselves as homosexuals or bisexuals but still engage in some sort of same gender sex. Early initiation, gay sex, comprehensive sexual education and the real world

As antigay groups such as the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society in particular continue to latch on to anything they can find so as to oppose homosexuality as it were, we now see comprehensive sexual education becoming the latest target as they prey on the ignorance and fears of the masses. We saw a similar set of fear, paranoia and nonsense that flowed with the Home & Family Life Education HFLE manual some year ago so much so that the Minister of Education at the time Reverend Ronnie Thwaites played to the gallery and claimed the important manual where only one page with a set of important questions on sexuality and the ‘awful’ word homosexuality and anal sex were expunged and a new sanitized version released.

The matter came up for mention again this morning on Power 106FM where Thwaites has returned as radio show host and he went on and on about the parents and teachers in schools and the recent GSAT examinations passes and the recently made comments by him on CVM TV also came through as to grooming. Sometimes I wonder if Thwaites and others like him in thinking are feeling-less or never had urges or experimented with some sort of sexual desires?

Despite the experts’ advice that teaching about sex in a carefully done manner does not necessarily cause children to go simply do it; and it makes one wonder sometimes if these same persons as paranoid adults were not young once or played ‘dollyhouse’ and the little rude things that attended no sooner than our parents our guardians turned their backs. The cooled rainbow flag brou ha ha has been tied into the ever growing pile of impositions in the eyes of ever frightened antigay groups in their continued moral panic; thankfully more and more Jamaicans are coming to their senses if ever so slowly (wish it was faster) that the seeming obsession with gays is too much; even as other societal issues abound. Such sentiments were expressed on the Seventh Day Adventist run radio station NCU FM Sunday call in show Pressing Matters hosted by Dennis Chung in Mandeville. The rainbow flag and the commission of inquiry report took up most of the show but the clear separation of selective religious voices came through which I found interesting. Some callers asked where are these groups on corruption and such and yet they are so transfixed on gays?

Meanwhile what is ironic is that many persons may have passed the flag at the US Embassy at Hope Road prior to Mrs Forte’s tweet-faux pas I bet did not know what the flag meant until this controversy, so the good that can come out of this it is a teaching moment for us LGBT voices included who know the flag is for LGBT but do not know the history of it.

In a television interview on CVM TV on June 14, 2016 when asked after a public where the Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed support to the families impacted by the Orlando Pulse gay club shooting Thwaites said that the flying of a rainbow flag at the US Embassy is effectively grooming children into “a particular lifestyle that is different from the Judaeo Christian norm which is in fact the foundation of our constitutional order and I believe of our personal and national health...... ”

NATIONAL Family Planning Board (NFPB) Executive Director Dr Denise Chevannes-Vogel has said that exposing adolescents to information on sexual reproductive health will not drive them to have sex if they are not already sexually active. Speaking at an HIV forum at Knutsford Court Hotel in St Andrew on Monday, Dr Chevannes-Vogel came out in full support of Comprehensive Sexuality Education, which has come under recent scrutiny after concerns were raised about the infiltration of the philosophy into the education system.

Dr Chevannes-Vogel called for “frank conversations” which, evidenced by the loud applause, got the nod from the audience. Though the forum — which was held under the theme ‘Health for All: Putting Youth and Adolescents at the Heart of the HIV Response’ — sought to raise awareness about adolescent and youth-specific issues in the response to HIV and AIDS, Dr Chevannes-Vogel moved to broaden the theme to put youth at the centre of a comprehensive sexual reproductive health response and sustainable national development.

“When we look at the correlation between good, optimum, sexual reproductive health and sustainable national development, the linkage is clear,” she stated. “And as a matter of fact, that was part of the basis of the integration of HIV and sexual reproductive health; they share common drivers — the gender inequalities, the cultural attitudes, the poverty, the unemployment, gender-based violence, sexual violence, incest.”

In May, Education Minister Ruel Reid met with representatives of the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society to hear their concerns and made it clear that the education ministry’s philosophical position is that gender is fixed as male and female. So the new Education minister is already showing where he is going on this which seems nowhere as he too is playing to the gallery. The orgy incident recently at Coreville Gardens of some 14 students came to mind as well as instead of gathering the obvious misguided teens to start some sustained intervention in counselling they were arrested of all things; what a lovely way to start to foster even more rebellion than already exists with teens as we once were. We wanted some independence as teens lest we forget at some point in our lives. Even though some involved were below the age of consent of 16 they were no adults found in their company which means this was a group arrangement. Careful handling such have been employed instead to the alleged verbal abuse by onlookers the teens were escorted to the waiting police vehicles.

Another incident in St Catherine at a high school where two male teens were caught in a compromising position in what has been surmised as a partnered masturbation session; both boys were described as showing each other their erect penises and touching each other, a mob eventually came down on them as other students created an alarm and gave chase. Early initiation is something that has not been adequately looked at it seems on the face of it and relying on punishment or condemnation simply because teens or even kids were caught in the act is not the way to go; that would only force them into more secrecy. With social media becoming so pronounced in our lives the proliferation of sex tapes or what were supposed to be private tapes going public is another example of what we are up against.

An old case of an obsessed male teen at a co-ed Kingston school who liked his male teacher and sought to also express his sexual desire came through which caused some trouble in 2011 finally ended some time ago; the young man was exposed to sustained counselling and getting the parents involved after much police intervention as well as the teen attempted to blackmail in a sense the teacher. The teacher almost missed a buggery charge guilty findings as more and more details came out in court while some of the cops involved have changed their stance as the facts came through. The matter has been adjourned but the teen via his mother may have to answer some sort of false accusations charges dependent on the original accused pursuit to press such charges. Our teens are way more sexually active it seems to me than my generation or generations prior. But with quibbling antigay groups and misguided thinking while the field grows the horse starves. Our education system is missing the urgently needed sex & sexuality properly prepared and age appropriate to be rolled out despite the fears being expressed by ignoramuses and leaders make bold decisions while not playing to the gallery from veiled threats.

While abstinence is also a good avenue as an option especially for HIV interventions as a part of the cadre of options we must get real, not in a world where teens are bombarded with sexualised messaging of some kind. The trick is to empower adolescents in taking up other options such as extra-curricular activities while providing adequate age appropriate information. Besides if we think as some antigay groups do by sanitizing sexuality that will stop teens from getting it elsewhere namely social media and dancehall artists who provide a misogynistic lessons in song and videos. How does one compete with all the distractions that are around these days? Yet antigay groups are living in the dark and are so behind the times.

So I commented recently on a post by fellow blogger a{GAY}tekeeper{iam on a similarly captioned post where he asked at the time why does it seem that white or Caucasian men seem to be the bottom or receptive partner in gay porn? (or words to that effect) A couple answers came in and in my comment I had suggested that maybe it had something to do with the objectification of African descended men and the whole notion of big penises, virility, and endowment and so on.

What I never added was the animalistic component as well when pitted against white men being privileged as gay men long before the struggle for equality and the expansion of porn producers, actors and owners becoming more diversified.

Anal: Should you go back there?

IT is not much of a taboo topic anymore, and more and more couples are seemingly exploring the phenomenon of anal sex.

But are their explorations medically safe? Deviant? Or is it just a matter of how cautious you are?

According to sex therapist Dr Sidney McGill, many Jamaicans will think it is deviant behaviour because it does not fall within the status quo of religion or socialisation.

“Status quo wants to maintain what is considered to be the proper or right action, and culture is maintaining the status quo,” he said, adding that publicly many people maintain the status quo but privately they do otherwise.

He said sexual acts are governed by our cultural and religious norms, so no matter what somebody says that is scientifically informed, if a belief is strong then people will do it.

He also explained that though anal penetration or anal sex has always been associated with male homosexuality, having anal sex doesn’t mean you’re homosexual.

“There is this one guy who I know who’s been married for many years but enjoys having anal sex with his wife more than vaginal sex and she’s growing accustomed to it, but he’s not a homosexual,” Dr McGill said.

The sex therapist stated that there are a number of couples who come in and contemplate anal sex because the men complain that they no longer enjoy sex as a result of numerous vaginal births.

“So a woman who wants her partner or husband to be sexually satisfied or a couple who’s fairly liberal may consider this [anal sex] as an alternative use,” he said.

He said while the primary purpose of the anus is to expel faecal matter, and at the beginning anal sex is painful, and there may be risks involved for the receiver and the penetrator, pleasure can be had and all people need is a little counselling.

“There are nerve endings in the rectum that some people find very pleasurable. So you’d recognise that this is not the primary purpose, but that there are benefits or pleasure once you take the necessary precautions to ensure that the person receiving is not harmed in any way and the person giving does not pick up infections,” the sex therapist said.

He added: “Sex is more than science; it has to do with feelings and a lot of the time feelings are irrational, so you have to take this into consideration when making decisions. If a couple is doing it and there’s no resistance from either party I am not going to discourage them. If a couple comes to me and one partner does not want to have anal sex, I’d be willing to explore the topic with them so that they can make decisions about their sexual activity. I’m not going to come out and say that this is right or wrong. It can be right or wrong depending on whom you’re doing it with. I want to stand on the fence in a neutral position and help people to sort out their lives in terms of what’s right for them or wrong for them.”

He said that there are many variables that should, however, be considered if you are going to have anal sex.

These include being free of sexually transmitted diseases, being screened for HIV, and taking into consideration if one partner is having multisexual relations.

Meanwhile, Dr Charles Rockhead, obstetrician-gynaecologist, said from a medical standpoint he cannot dictate to people or legislate sexual activity to individuals; rather he can only advise them as to the safest route.

“What I can do if they ask me about it is to help to prevent the complications or creating any damage. My view as a scientist and a physician is to prevent complications in a patient. If a man makes up his mind and says he wants to have anal sex with his wife, I can’t stop him. I can’t tell him don’t do it. That’s not my job. My job is to tell him how to prevent complications,” he said.

“If they ask me about it I’m not there to counsel them against it. I’m there to say if you do it, this should occur — that is, proper lubrication, proper sheathing. Complications may include anal fissures, anal tears, and further complications if you have a rectal injury or tear. Also to try to avoid double dipping — anal and then straight vaginal as it cannot be healthy for the female.”

I am coming from the good old days of face to face links and a one off cruising jack off and or good one night stand but from a place of spontaneity which is so much the better for judging someone than using social media, online or dating apps.

The biggest question I get most of all is how old am I? My birthday was on February five and at 43 I am a little tired of being told I look so young or do not look my age; yes I am flattered but sometimes it is just too much ammunition for an inappropriate approach as I am a little old fashioned in terms of intrigue and suspense or mystery thrill of the flirt. Frankly sometimes the welcome is warm and the flattery effusive.

Now Gaydar is a fast rising online and dating App for Jamaicans as I tried it some time ago and nearly every taste is allowed. Grindr is doing well for now but it looks too plain to me and not exciting and covert identities can hide out and who knows what dangers lie behind hot torsos or thick dicks or a tight hairless asshole beckoning to stick your tongue or dick in it. Someone introduced me to Gay Romeo which looks cute but it’s mostly African guys who seem to populate the profiles as black men than locals or African Americans; maybe they do not know it so much yet.

Lesbians are also having some issues based on reports who also meet fakers so to speak and seems not to have caught on for that cohort as for men, I guess the spontaneity of man on man sex devoid of talk first, sex later considerations that delay hook-ups I imagine. For some women it helps it seems to monitor while using the search freedoms and allows online relationships from all accounts and cybersex used to cement the release factor. 

The aforementioned near miss Instagram case report (#gaydating) had the subject posting photos on Facebook of the matter with some minor injuries after a tussle and rightfully warning others of the ordeal and dangers involved. With some men generally still thinking male homosexuality as taboo whilst attaching money for sex and discreetness if indulged in; blackmail with a report I had not posted on my blog by request of the victim he was ambushed even as he got naked with the initial date; it turns out it was a gang of thugs posing as gays with the main actor playing the role of luring unsuspecting men at hotels or guest houses. Demands of thousands of dollars are not uncommon or several cases I have seen, worked on or heard of where motor vehicles and other valuables in the quest for untold wealth in their eyes at any cost.

I would advise to look for signs of either unstable folks, aggressiveness, inordinate demands as early warnings that something is obviously off.
