Bareback popularity concerns

Given the Safer Sex Week activities and some issues raised in a previous post on this blog on barebacking in anal sex I and indeed some others have concerns. It has surfaced also that some HIV positive men who feel that they do not need to practice safer sex anymore as they are already positive simply enjoy sex in a kind of complacency or abandonment thinking that once they are positive once then that is it; there is no need for vigilance, risk assessments and avoidance of re-infections of other strains of HIV which can be more deleterious to one’s immune system. Albeit that a trend cannot simply be designated within a year or without strong empirical data but cultural practices however can be used as a sign or guide to said trends developing. Just a cursory glance at some private groups on social media or WhatsAPP for that matter or other platforms such as AdamforAdam and hookup sites/blogs suggest more and more men are openly requesting bareback fun even while declaring their HIV positive status, once kept ultra private, it is as if it is a badge of honour to be HIV positive these days and surviving which maybe encouraging to a certain extent but all too risky in other realms. This may be outside of bug chasing or chasers.

Millennials for example have been declaring discomfort with condoms (an old criticism) and with readily available anal hygiene and enema cleansing products in local pharmacies and sex toy shops for example buffered by a kind of legitimization of barebacking in black gay porn men are daring themselves for share pleasure it seems while ignoring that risks are still high despite better working antiretrovirals and that HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence.

As for the FEMIDOM female condom as an alternative suggested to be used with the inner ring removed that is now being laughed at or scoffed at as the device is deemed too cumbersome and too thick which may be less comforting during sex; with the outer ring also hanging outside seeing it is larger than the rest of the device some say it is like screwing a condom instead of an anus. Indeed this is a sentiment expressed also by older men as well who simply dismiss the FEMIDOM as a balloon to be blown up or used for something else.

The short lived Origami condoms for example that were supposedly designed for anal sex specifically seemed to be off or discontinued despite a launch campaign and an awareness program online, the uniquely shaped and grooved surface is supposed to enhance pleasure for the wearer and the receptive partner as well probably the latter more so; given the mucosal riddled sphincter area and lower opening with millions or nerve endings. Hookup demands

from GMSH

My own experience recently with a mystery stalker of sorts who found the number on one of my blogs publicly listed where he repeatedly asked for a hookup of sorts (despite not knowing me) and declaring he wanted it “raw” meaning penetration without any barrier or a condom. While it is tempting to do same as the good old 1980s for example in the height of the sexual revolution somebody needs to remind or inform men who have sex with men, MSM in the form of anal penetration that HIV is still out there.

Complacency or near fatalism

The heightened HIV social marketing through Global Fund funded efforts nationally and other NGO work has helped but seems to hurt the thinking and sensibilities involved. Persons have concluded that if I am going to die from HIV it won’t happen soon because I can live long with just a tablet a day similar to other lifestyle diseases as diabetes or hypertension but what some folks seem to overlook or ignore or are unaware of or not properly informed in support groups are that there are several other strains of HIV which while one may be positive with one strain that does not impair their immune systems the newer strain can be far more harmful and only seek to reduce one’s immune system to stay sustained. That ‘I am going to enjoy my life’ thinking no matter what is still out there if one is to go by the comments on blogs and porn related fora on social media. Yes the ARVs or HAART treatments are effective in terms of control of Viral loads and improved CD4 counts but missing dosages too can be a challenge; a point that was forcefully made recently on Facebook by an advocate to a young man who insisted he was going to “Fuck til mi dead”

Hot pumped gym and tattoed bodies, well endowed persons coupled with objectification and just the sheer excitement for younger MSM can turn persons into tongue wagging excited persons who end up making wrong or misguided decisions about sex in the heat of the moment. Sadly the Safer Sex Week impetus is near silent on anal sex between men publicly and seem to want to the rely on the hetero-normative sexual relations psychology to trickle over into gay culture. That type of messaging does seem to be getting through to some, I have heard some men say that when they are with a woman they use condoms with them but when they are with a man they don’t as anal sex is better to them in terms of feelings and the ‘grip factor’ and that includes men who do not identify as gay, given that the concept of the word for some is loaded woman aspiring oriented and so called thugs do not want to be a woman but they still hit ass under the radar. There are other psychologies involved stemming from the prison systems as in prison wife culture, gay for the stay psychology and indeed curiosity that seems to be overlooked by the folks who design these fluffy, sometimes simplistic and patronizing sounding campaigns.

Those intersectionalities with gay men who self identify and those men who don’t with the latter thinking that bareback sex is an escape from reality and therefore no thought of risk must interfere cannot be left out of the mix. There are men out there who really believe that they are not at risk once I do it with a men in secret and that the secret albeit without a condom will not expose them to HIV risk; whilst seeing heterosexual sex as the one to use a condom with an outside female partner other than the babymother or wife. At some point there has to be a reality check and a tie-in of those sub cultural matters.

Touching the anal hygiene matter hinted above while the ‘hole maybe clean’ there is the business of that hole being ‘too clean’ meaning the so called good bacteria maybe washed away if one is not too careful, although the self adjusting PH balance Fleet enemas products for example are out there to help to avoid that destruction of those bacteria if one uses other non traditional forms of cleansing the area is exposed without physiological defences naturally. Barebacking especially almost immediately after a cleansing or enema exercise can leave one open to infection if the penetrating partner is infected to transmission of STI including HIV. There are persons who believe that a clean hole by virtue of it being ‘clean’ of faecal matter and odours that all is well afterwards for penetration. Some persons suggest that even rimming (using the tongue to stimulate or even penetrate the anus/sphincter muscle) is OK after an enema but I surmise that a simple pleasurable rim session will not just end there, at some point someone is going to be probed to the ultimate pleasure of it.

The gay porn industry is thriving on bareback for sales even while showing disclaimers in the opening sequence of DVDs and streams identifying HIV risking and encouraging testing and single partners; the challenge is that that disclaimer only runs for a 30 second or so period while the rest of the movie sometimes up to two hours long is all about the ass and dick of it thus almost killing the important message.

Antigay (un)bareback anal sex abhorrence

The very bareback issue and the sex police of religious fanatics have sought to capitalise on the matter to enhance their push for maintaining a 486 year old buggery law with all its amendments and adjustments in between. Anal sex bareback or not is not the untidy affair as some such as Dr Wayne West of the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society JCHS has sought to present it to his loyal following and misguided or ignorant persons. He has sought to use the thin lining nature of the area to suggest we are deserving of an HIV as the transmission will be greater which is true but so it is also for the vagina provided if the penetrating partner is already positive. But intellectual dishonesty is part and parcel of the strategy even by so called Christians who misplace God’s purpose to promote hate.

Encourage monogamous or outer-course sexual activity as an option more

Even monogamous unions with uninfected partners and trust have to also consider safer sex issues I suggest; as safety and hygiene are crucial especially the latter but I get the impression that such other considerations are not part and parcel of the MSM interventions more forcefully. Suggesting non-penetrative sexual activity via a penis seems all but missing from the scheme of things is one is to take into account the discourse on sexual matters with younger MSM. I have been trying via my blogs to promote proper anal health but one blogger is not enough and I do not get the feeling

The message has to be repeated more loudly in terms of the risks involved and more openly about barebacking; after all buggery is not proven by mere eyesight but a physical examination by a doctor providing that the accused did not take a shower or enema in between the accusation, the arrest or detention pursuant to preparing the doctors’ report; a report premised on the thinking of no barrier sex and residual materials left behind in or around the anus or sphincter muscle. The doctor’s report unfortunately even in today’s world is still prepared on a thinking of no condoms used in the act in the first instance, it is usually after the examination or during that the harvested samples or culture related spermicidal findings that in the comments section of the standard form the doctor may make a note of the presence of spermicidal material to indicate a condom was present. The reluctance by the NGOs and the national program to openly speak to anal penetration way more forcefully seems a little ridiculous or near unfounded to me in addressing risky behaviour linked to men who are going that route for sexual pleasure.

Ground provision vendor gets death threats

An alleged gay ground provision vendor was issued death threats some two weeks ago following his supposed refusal or inability to pay up extortion ‘fees’ demanded by thugs in the Spanish Town area. His noticeable absence in recent weeks led myself and others to inquire of him as visits to the market to patronise his handcart of items but noticed he was not among the middle man vendors; he like others would by directly from the farmers/higglers from rural Jamaica wholesale and then place a mark up for resale. Extortion has been and continue to be an issue for street, market and store vendors as well as established stores such as the previously nearby located BASCHO, that has since moved to Burke road closer to the police station which was forced to close its doors due to the scourge. With all that relocation to the Burke road and the very bus park for safety I imagine, the crime has come right behind their establishment.

The bizarre shootings in the Jamaica Urban Transit, JUTC bus park in recent weeks is clear evidence of the problem as gangs clash over control of the lucrative multi-million dollar illegal activity. Vendors are afraid to report the matter fearing repercussions so some relocate to another locale or parish for a time or go into hiding, but with diminished income persons are forced to resurface to earn a living. The Clansman and ratbat gangs are responsible for the latest challenges. The vendor was others was approached by a woman with a composition book and what looks like a receipt or ticket role and collects the daily $300 up $500 fee sometimes allowed to accumulate so as to make one collection on the weekend. Two weeks ago the vendor was ruffed up by thugs who operate in stealth with the woman after an argument developed with the parties. It was then the two thugs openly threatened the vendor who for all intents and purposes is not effeminate or has any disguising feature towards same.

In fact he is the stereotypical bleached face and sometimes skin archetype with tattoos and such so when during the heated exchange according to another vendor as a witness who I spoke to, she hinted that the battyman accusation was as usual in any other male versus male argument but the men were resolute and claimed that they knew the vendor had no woman and that ‘him fuck batty’ followed up by the usual colourful parlance. Trouble with this one I have apart from the obstruction of freedom of movement in a public thoroughfare by unauthorised persons is that the gang in question, Clansman, its leader Tesha Miller has had the same gay or indeed bisexual allegations thrown at him repeatedly. Since his short incarceration in the United States and subsequent deportation to Jamaica, it has been open war within his own ranks and with the rival ratbat gang with fight for turf, even as the police has an all points bulletin of sorts out for him but it is a mystery to find him and he has not turned himself in. His attorney who ironically is anti gay attorney Bert Samuels who has been counsel for Miller for quite some time and says he is a Christian yet he has not been able to bring in Miller to the authorities for questioning.

Especially after a phone was found in his rectum alleged at a lockup some years ago the accusations of his sexuality had been swirling and this was also just around the time of the trial of another reputed gangbanger Zeeks where his trial revealed homosexual activities with the murdered victim by way of oral sex the victim was killed, this seems rather strange and curious as many including the main eyewitness vendor is questioning how would these thugs offering strong arms services know of the sexual activities of the now hiding male vendor, there is something else at work I suspect. We have had previous arrangements of this kind without the gang leader per say but it brings into to question the issues of downlow living.

also see: ZEKES TRIAL SHOCKER - Court told of oral sex act with man

Things have gotten so sublime to the ridiculous that even fast food restaurants in Spanish Town proper have once again do not use the friendly engagement term “Can I take your order?” as the ‘order’ in the term is offensive, from the point of view of those who oppose the one order gang’s reign. Most fast food joints now saw or ask “How can I help you?” or “what do you need?” this is like some serious ignorance laden regression to the dark days of wearing the wrong colour in terms of politics or the fist hitting greeting style changed to arm grabbing as fist bumping is seen as a cultural expression to West Kingston so it must be avoided.

Other vendors are circumspect these days and there is a noticeable decline of the ‘county higglers’ who would sleep in their trucks after a long journey from rural parts, do business and then return to their parishes of origins by truck, van or bus on a Sunday morning. I wonder if the dude will return soon as the other remaining vendors are glad for the spinoffs due to his absence seem to genuinely miss him as they seem to have cordial relations despite being competitors. Hope remains while company is true and we hope he comes back out soon. It has not been ascertained if a report was made to the police even as they have raised their visibility in the JUTC bus park and other parts of Spanish Town. How long will this continue is another fundamental question, criminals living big on ill gotten gains at our safety’s expense, now we are hearing of miscreants dressed as students in uniform or even legitimate park wardens either forced to become operatives or disguised as such to collect the extortion on behalf of the gangs while going undetected. The business of lotto scamming in western Jamaica is not divorced from all this as suspected and recently confirmed. Some of the extortionists have been jumping over to the illegal trade to prop up their already cash strong wealth.

The recruitment of gays even with homophobic consequences when things go sour is ongoing as the old perception of gay men especially the effeminate bright ones are said to be able to speak better by phone with intended victims hence closing the deals and ripping off persons who fall prey. Some persons have found themselves on the wrong side of some of the kingpins and their cronies and have had to relocate to other parts as well. Then the crackdown of the task force is showing up the network of already active gays quite plainly, so much so that a recent murder of a pocomania pastor has tongues wagging in St James about sexuality, obeah or necromancy and such.

Hope the vendor can ‘eat a food’ again soon.

Butt Oh! - Jamaican Mint employee guilty of smuggling $165K of gold in rectum

I heard of this one from Nationwide and at first it sounded as a joke but seriously if only Jamaicans only use their anancyism or 'skills' to do good, we will all the better for it.

Leston setting off the detector

A former Royal Canadian Mint employee has been found guilty of smuggling $165,000 worth of gold from the building on Sussex Drive — apparently in his rectum, an Ottawa judge ruled Wednesday morning.

Leston Lawrence "clearly had the opportunity" to steal the gold because he often worked alone and the security cameras would not have caught him slipping gold pucks into his pocket, Justice Peter Doody ruled.

"His locker contained Vaseline and latex gloves, which could have been used to insert a puck into his rectum," he ruled, adding that there were no cameras in the locker room.

Lawrence set off the mint's walk-through metal detectors more than any other employee without a metal implant — 28 times between December 2014 and March 2015, court heard. But when a secondary check with handheld detectors failed to alert guards to the gold, Lawrence was able to leave with it each time, Doody found.

The handheld detectors are less sensitive than the walk-through detectors, and do not detect metal in body cavities, the ruling detailed.

Though there was no video evidence of Lawrence stealing the gold from the mint, Lawrence was found guilty of the theft of 22 gold "pucks" worth $165,000, and laundering 18 of them via Ottawa Gold Buyers.

The pucks ranged from 192 to 264 grams in weight.

Lawrence's income was insufficient to purchase the gold he sold, the ruling detailed. He was also found guilty of possession of property obtained by crime, conveying gold out of the mint, and breach of trust by a public official.
Bank flagged police

Lawrence worked at the mint from July 2008 until March 2015. His job included purifying gold — jewelry, coins and bars purchased by the mint — by melting it, injecting it with chlorine gas and skimming off base metal until the molten gold was 99.5 per cent pure.

Once he believed the molten gold was pure, he was tasked with scooping some out with a ladle, letting it cool and then testing it for purity. He was supposed to return the pucks into the vat of molten gold after testing.

In February 2015, Lawrence cashed two cheques from Ottawa Gold Buyers — one for $7,992.27 and another for $7,269 — at the RBC at Westgate Mall, the ruling detailed. He told the teller the cheques were from "gold nuggets" and that he wanted to transfer the money to help his parents rebuild a house in Jamaica.

When the teller noticed he worked at the mint, the bank notified the RCMP.
RCMP surveillance

Under RCMP surveillance, he was seen visiting the Ottawa Gold Buyers store at Westgate Mall on March 9, 2015.

The RCMP found Lawrence sold a 24-karat gold puck to the store for $7,966.27, and had previously sold 17 similar pucks to the store for a grand total of $138,172.46.

The RCMP also seized four gold pucks — roughly the diameter of golf balls with a total value of $27,278.84 — from Lawrence's bank safety deposit box on March 11, 2015, the ruling detailed.

Experts analyzed the gold pucks, and found that they matched the purity of gold at the mint. The pucks were identical in diameter to those produced at the mint, and fit the ladle used exclusively by the mint perfectly, Doody's decision detailed.

Lawrence is expected to be sentenced on Nov. 28.

ENDS

This business of anal cavity smuggling is not a strange issue, as previous entries on this and sister blogs have, see:

In 2010 another story of a phone in body cavity made the news again, this time in St Catherine.

ANOTHER PHONE ANOTHER BODY CAVITY STORY 2 YEARS LATER ….

The story read in part:

"The St Catherine South police seized a cellphone from a prisoner on Tuesday albeit in ‘dark’ circumstances. Information reaching The Star is that about 4:30 p.m. police were conducting a search of the lock-ups at the Portmore Police Station and upon approaching one of the 13 cells, a prisoner was said to have placed a phone in his rectum.

What’s the Deal with Sodom?

Safer rimming or anilingus .......... tips & suggestions

Word of advice however do not put phones up your butt, take a dick instead lol, enough said or be like porn star Shorty J if you can manage (scene pic above) who took a phone (encased in a condom) and his partner called him to let it vibrate while inside then they proceeded after removing it to penile penetration through to climax. As for me anyway is good, I wonder what Dr Wayne West would say when he sees this lol.

But seriously let us use our minds to doing what is legal and honest, the moral of the story.

On white men as bottoms in interracial gay porn

So I commented recently on a post by fellow blogger a{GAY}tekeeper{iam on a similarly captioned post where he asked at the time why does it seem that white or Caucasian men seem to be the bottom or receptive partner in gay porn? (or words to that effect) A couple answers came in and in my comment I had suggested that maybe it had something to do with the objectification of African descended men and the whole notion of big penises, virility, and endowment and so on.

porn added for this post

My comment was:

"Maybe it has something to do with the objectification of us as black men and the way in which power is defined as resident in our penises and dick sizes and the associated use (in the fuck), submission might be a means to get away from the established reality of the present power differentials of privileged Caucasian males ..... this is a subject matter worth exploring some more, Howie."

What I never added was the animalistic component as well when pitted against white men being privileged as gay men long before the struggle for equality and the expansion of porn producers, actors and owners becoming more diversified.

It appears that most production houses of interracial porn tend to be run by white men or white producers and within I would say the last fifteen or twenty years with the explosion of black stars such as TJ Swan, Humongous, Bobby Blake and Daryll Harris and so on; all of whom have also done interracial movies. In the days of VHS tapes and getting movies we even in Jamaica were bombarded by white starred clips and movies such as the Stallion series and those stars. If one got their hands on an all black gay movie one would be lucky. Nowadays there is so much to choose from and like a revolution we have gone back to the pre-condom, pre-HIV epidemic days where men just fucked so long as the hole was looking good, hot and of course clean.

The other generations of porn stars seem to be pushing the envelope on all fronts, from experimentation with scatting which I am not big fan of to cum-farting to dirty ass eating with either other black men or white or Latino men as well. Bearing in mind the (b)Latino influence as well in what I see as the cross over from white porn becoming less popular in minority circles to a more steady acceptance of seeing our own archetypes fucking. There was a whole cadre of Latino stars too numerous to mention who were in the interim of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s who also made their mark; at one point I can remember the push for (b)Latino movies with people like Castro, Vic (80s star) and other big dick stars especially in movies like “I Was a Teenage Hustler” comes to mind. Present day stars such as Cornbread, Dream, Jiovanne, Redz, Nubius, Remy Mars, JT, Shorty J(known for the cellphone in his hole), Breion one of my favourites as the expert rimmer, Pimp and so on do not seem so keep in interracial scenes though, maybe with the exception of Breion he has done a few. I wonder why, while newer white stars seem to be interested in getting down with a black dick. Production houses such as Thughunter seem to make it their point of duty not only to do outdoor seeming impromptu sex scenes which I kinda like but also specialize in mixed race actors with usually the white guy as the bottom mostly although flip flops also are done in some others.

I like watching a good black dick going in some white ass indeed sometimes but not on a regular, frankly there is a feeling of taming or disciplining some privileged white dude. I guess dick is dick and as long as it is good and the owner is a good user does it matter his race? Maybe there is an exploratory component to; to step outside the norm and or comfort to try something or someone new or different from oneself. I am concerned though that bare backing maybe seen as normative in gay sex and risk of HIV may be construed as immaterial. I know it is tempting with that good tightness and skin to skin but do we really know our fuck buddies status? In a workshop earlier this year the issue came up with some young gay men aged average early twenties and a few of them did openly expressed that they have done it bareback which was a little surprising to me; the justification was they have seen it in gay porn and it looks tempting and the tightness factor also came through. I guess some of it also linked to dancehall culture’s persistent reference to the misogynistic messages on sex and dominance in the act, coupled with harder sex being seen as good, the rougher the better and the old glamity/punnany construct a comparison to a woman’s vagina.

I have had requests over the years from white men on platform such as Adam4adam and so on who have a fantasy on island men; they think we all somehow or another have massive 15’’ dicks and will fuck the living daylights out of any hole we get. Our local gay or mixed porn sites though blocked to us here in Jamaica thanks to former Prime Minister Bruce “not in my cabinet” Golding have made sure they find and showcase massive dick holders such as Rass Mansta whose 14 incher is a favourite for many (including me lol); I wish I could get it to suck. Many orgy seekers who are from Europe as well have this notion of well hung black men here coupled with the fact that endowed ‘rent-a-dread’ concept that exists in some tourists areas for not only women but male clients as well. I have had my share of ‘white meat’ but no offence to my Caucasian readers I prefer my own Jamaican meat and or African descended partner(s) . It is not only Caucasian men that request or have notions of grander of the big dick island boy but also African American, Afro Canadian and Afro UK men who make requests or message me online on various platforms; I guess the big buddy Jamaican man is a phenomenon we have to live with. Even African American thugs who are also well endowed want to hookup with other local brothers to stick fight I suppose.

I guess as more tolerance comes through, barriers on all fronts including race relations settle, expanding visibility of interracial porn especially and accessibility is going to cement mixed race relationships, liaisons and quickies we are going to see more bottoming of Caucasian men.

Keep fucking brothers and remember to wrap it up if you are not sure.

Anal: Should you go back there?

BY KIMBERLEY HIBBERT

IT is not much of a taboo topic anymore, and more and more couples are seemingly exploring the phenomenon of anal sex.

But are their explorations medically safe? Deviant? Or is it just a matter of how cautious you are?

According to sex therapist Dr Sidney McGill, many Jamaicans will think it is deviant behaviour because it does not fall within the status quo of religion or socialisation.

“Status quo wants to maintain what is considered to be the proper or right action, and culture is maintaining the status quo,” he said, adding that publicly many people maintain the status quo but privately they do otherwise.

He said sexual acts are governed by our cultural and religious norms, so no matter what somebody says that is scientifically informed, if a belief is strong then people will do it.

He also explained that though anal penetration or anal sex has always been associated with male homosexuality, having anal sex doesn’t mean you’re homosexual.

“There is this one guy who I know who’s been married for many years but enjoys having anal sex with his wife more than vaginal sex and she’s growing accustomed to it, but he’s not a homosexual,” Dr McGill said.

The sex therapist stated that there are a number of couples who come in and contemplate anal sex because the men complain that they no longer enjoy sex as a result of numerous vaginal births.

“So a woman who wants her partner or husband to be sexually satisfied or a couple who’s fairly liberal may consider this [anal sex] as an alternative use,” he said.

He said while the primary purpose of the anus is to expel faecal matter, and at the beginning anal sex is painful, and there may be risks involved for the receiver and the penetrator, pleasure can be had and all people need is a little counselling.

“There are nerve endings in the rectum that some people find very pleasurable. So you’d recognise that this is not the primary purpose, but that there are benefits or pleasure once you take the necessary precautions to ensure that the person receiving is not harmed in any way and the person giving does not pick up infections,” the sex therapist said.

He added: “Sex is more than science; it has to do with feelings and a lot of the time feelings are irrational, so you have to take this into consideration when making decisions. If a couple is doing it and there’s no resistance from either party I am not going to discourage them. If a couple comes to me and one partner does not want to have anal sex, I’d be willing to explore the topic with them so that they can make decisions about their sexual activity. I’m not going to come out and say that this is right or wrong. It can be right or wrong depending on whom you’re doing it with. I want to stand on the fence in a neutral position and help people to sort out their lives in terms of what’s right for them or wrong for them.”

He said that there are many variables that should, however, be considered if you are going to have anal sex.

These include being free of sexually transmitted diseases, being screened for HIV, and taking into consideration if one partner is having multisexual relations.

Meanwhile, Dr Charles Rockhead, obstetrician-gynaecologist, said from a medical standpoint he cannot dictate to people or legislate sexual activity to individuals; rather he can only advise them as to the safest route.

“What I can do if they ask me about it is to help to prevent the complications or creating any damage. My view as a scientist and a physician is to prevent complications in a patient. If a man makes up his mind and says he wants to have anal sex with his wife, I can’t stop him. I can’t tell him don’t do it. That’s not my job. My job is to tell him how to prevent complications,” he said.

“If they ask me about it I’m not there to counsel them against it. I’m there to say if you do it, this should occur — that is, proper lubrication, proper sheathing. Complications may include anal fissures, anal tears, and further complications if you have a rectal injury or tear. Also to try to avoid double dipping — anal and then straight vaginal as it cannot be healthy for the female.”

Anal sex mistakes gay men makes ..... some suggestions

Anal sex is one of the primary methods of sexual exploration among gay men. Not only is it popular but it also is one that has more misconceptions attached to it. Although many enjoy the act, there are a number of men that don't. For them, what was supposed to be pleasure turned out to be painful. And rather than deal with another person who could potentially cause damage, they have given up the act. If you are interested in enjoy better anal sex, it is important that you avoid the most common mistakes gay men make. Your partner will appreciate you not breaking one of these important tips.

You Don’t Think You Need To Learn Anything

When it comes to anal sex, you don’t rely on your instincts. You need to come prepared if you want it to be an awesome experience for both of you. This means having the proper supplies at your home for his comfort including an anal douche. Cleaning the anal canal helps to prevent accidents that may occur. The Stream Master Hydra is easy to use and last for years to come. Even if you think that having an anal douche is the bottom's responsibility having one available can ensure that any issues can be addressed. Anal is not just sticking your penis inside his ass. You should be aware of his body works, where his prostate is and what you can do to stimulate him. If you don’t enter the situation sufficiently informed, you are not going to rock his world.

You Don't Use the Right Kind of Lube

It may sound of stupid to repeat the obvious but men don't produce lubrication to allow them to have comfortable anal sex. In order to ensure that he is comfortable, you have to use sex lubricant. Many men make the mistake of getting a lower quality brand thinking that all lube is the same. It's not. A premium quality lubricant will not dry out. It stays in place and provides a silky glide that makes the experience enjoyable. There are specialty lubricants made for anal sex that relax the muscles of the body and allow greater comfort. Pjur Analyse Me has jojoba extract to soften the skin and helps increase enjoyment.

You Don’t Find Out How He Likes It

Every man that enjoys anal sex doesn't enjoy it in the same way. While you may think he wants to be banged out, he may only find pleasure from a sensual stroke. To truly know how to create pleasure for both of you, you must have a conversation. This should take place outside of the bedroom. It is your responsibility to put his concern first since he is vulnerable to pain and injury should you not listen to what he needs. Take your time and assure him that the experience will be done in the most comfortable manner possible. Find out exactly what makes him hesitant and then see what you can do to ease his fears. Communication is a big deal.

You Don’t Stimulate Him During Intercourse

It is important that he is very turned on before you get busy. Foreplay is essential. If you think that your dick is enough to get him hot, you are sadly mistaken. You are not all that. When he’s aroused, he body is more open to penetration making the act easier. You should stimulate him to the point where he craves you inside of him. And once you enter, you need to ensure that he stays in the mood. You should caress his nipples, rub his body and stroke him sensually. Although some men may be able to have an orgasm from penetration, using a masturbation toy on him can send shock-waves through his body. The Mood Pleaser Frost is a toy that feel like the real thing. It has sensual beads that provide pleasure from base to tip. While he's on his back, you can slide it on providing him the constant stimulation needed to ensure anal sex is hot.

You Think You Are In Control

There is a rule that I believe should be the standard for anal sex. The bottom controls the show. I know that men think that bringing the dick gives them some sort of power in the bedroom. This couldn't be further than the truth. For anal sex to happen, the bottom has to be comfortable. Therefore the job of the top is to put the pleasure of the part at the forefront of the activity. Loose the ego. Dick is around every corner. Invest in your happiness by allowing your partner to get adjusted to your body and when he is in his zone, you can go for broke. Let him guide it slowly inside of his anus. Even if it takes some time to insert an inch, let him do it. If you try to rush things along by pumping with a sudden movement, the thought of having lost the control will make him tense up. Just talk to him and shower him with praise. He’ll really let loose.

Watch Shorty J get the phone in that ass

Word of advice however do not put phones up your butt, take a dick instead lol, enough said or be like porn star Shorty J if you can manage (scene pic above) who took a phone (encased in a condom) and his partner called him to let it vibrate while inside then they proceeded after removing it to penile penetration through to climax.

Men who have anal sex with women are (likely to be) gay! ..... oh boi

Krystal Tomlinson & Colin Hines from FAME FM

Lawd some Jamaicans needs help. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

FAME FM’s Uncensored hosted by Krystal Tomlinson and the ever uncomfortable DJ Colin Hines when it comes to topics on homosexuality or as in last evening’s show on whether or not men who have anal sex with women or receive or accede to women’s wishes to penetrate them are gay? Proved we have a long way to go in this country in as far as the understanding of sexual orientation and such are concerned and as for the Twitter/Facebook comments is just sickening really; how backward we are as a country yet still despite so much information available at our fingertips literally.

Persons behind a microphone frankly in my view need to be well rounded and be reminded that even if they hold personal positions one is hosting a show and all points should contend in the proper exchange of ideas or information. This is not just a FAME FM problem as I find myself having to stomach for purposes of determining reality some rather inane discourse these days on radio as all kinds of antigay venom comes forth; silly season anyone? Especially when it comes to this business of referendum on buggery calls.

Thankfully Sexologist, Columnist & former radio show host on Nationwide Radio’s ‘All Woman’ Dr Shelly Ann Weeks was in house though late and another sexuality expert for the first half and even with good information flowing from both the ‘anal is gay’ analogy kept creeping into the conversation which sometimes descended into a shouting match. Dr Shelly Ann debunked it quickly by asking why have the hosts had designated anal as gay and who determined it so if persons choose to practice anal sex in heterosexual unions?

“I don’t have a gay part of my body” Dr Weeks said.

Colin Hines as usual cried foul from the beginning of the discussion and a male guest who came on who penetrates women anally was almost raked over the coals for his choice although he said he is not sexually attracted to men. I was pleased that Dr Weeks also explained that not all gay men indulge in anal penetration and do other things otherwise known as outer-course or non-penetrative activities; she teased Colin Hines that if he tried it he might like it; to which he got a little testy.

Then came the rape versus buggery argument where a male guest who says he retails sex toys dismissed anal sex without consent as rape but thankfully again Dr Shelly Ann Weeks debunked that thought instantly; she clearly stated rape is rape whether it was anal or vaginal penetration.

The question of young teens or adolescent girls who want to keep their virginity and who prefer or are forced to have unprotected anal sex so as to keep clear came up as a dangerous alternative if the right precautions were not taken; thankfully Dr Shelly again came to save the day as to safer anal sex, condom usage, lubrication, PH balance and diseases such as Hepatitis B etc. I was deeply disturbed as to the level of discourse at some points in the hour long show; save and except for Krystal Tomlinson’s forward thinking there clearly needs to be a serious campaign of some kind or discussion on buggery, anal health, erogenous zones, human sexuality and what homosexuality actually is. Anal sex does not make someone gay and the buggery law in Jamaica is not just only for gay or bisexual men who practice anal penetration with other men.

The infamous dancehall DJ Zebra case comes to mind, He was found guilty of carnal abuse and buggery and is serving 30 years (20 for rape; 10 for buggery).
The Crown led evidence that the entertainer sexually assaulted the teenage daughter of his girlfriend.
It is said that the child had to run away from home and related her ordeal to a senior relative who reported the matter to the police.

Then came the practice of rimming or anal oral play as introduced by Krystal Tomlinson and the products on the market with Colin Hines expressing that the discussion was disturbing but the male guest by phone who has anal sex with women intervened and said that if persons believe that a man who penetrates a woman is gay and that is revolving around fear which could explain homophobic violence in Jamaica. He then asked how two men or two women in bed affect me or my life. To which Colin Hines gave the usually crappy correct answer in homophobes eyes that of the anus being the anus; and it’s not for sex; and he does not need lubricants and such as vaginas already have that naturally but Dr Shelly Ann Weeks intervened yet again to say that not all women lube naturally and require purchasing items to aid their sexual exploration. Then came the supposition of whether or not persons can be trusted although and those who “bun it out” (public abhorrence to anal sex) in public and then do it in private in other words are effectively pious hypocrites via public homophobia but have private fetishes and therefore should not be two-faced about it.

“I think we need to take the gayness off the table completely” Dr Weeks continued. Krystal Tomlinson had suggested it was gayish for a man to have anal sex with women as he may also be interested in men seeing it is the same orifice.

Colin asked the telephone male guest:

“A man being penetrated by a woman in his ‘bahind’ (colloquial for behind) is that gay?”

To which he said he does not know as he has never had that requested of him or had it done to him.

Sexuality is so beautiful and lovely Dr Shelly Ann Weeks outlined and parts of the body have several neurons and membranes etc and then the male sex toy retailer went down the road of labels such as BATTYMAN which he spelt out on air and when challenged by Dr Weeks as to everyone having ears, nipples, lips he then went on to suggest more lables such as the ridiculous ear man or nippleman or a bottomist; but it is not gay to which I just shook my head as it took so long near the end of the show to finally get some sense coming in the exchange in regards to him.

The use of the term ‘tumble bug’ especially by Colin Hines kept creeping in the exchange and is a stigmatizing term; I swear Colin Hines needs an intervention or change him as host. Other strange comments from Colin included:

“I am one of the idiots out there if I’m inclined to have anal sex then you’re inclined to have homosexual sex ..... that’s just me.”

“Anal sex, no thank you”

“What if someone were to say to you, you allow a woman to penetrate you; what’s to stop you from allowing a man to?”

“Are there no boundaries?” (Colin’s usual pet peeve, playing into the antigay advocacy tagline of moral nihilism).

Dr Shelly Ann Weeks responded appropriately to the first comment:

“No but Colin, let us explore your logic; with that logic then you’ll have to spread it right across the anatomy; you can’t say if a man has anal sex with a woman then he will do the same thing with a man, then you’ll have to say the same thing about if he kisses a woman; then you’ll have to say the same thing about if he plays with her nipples; both men and women have lips, both men and women have nipples, both men and women have anuses.”

In other words it amounts to sexual orientation.

Dr Weeks also responded to his third comment/question:

“The only difference a man has anatomically is fact that a man has a penis and a woman has a vagina; both of us have nipples; both of us have nose; both of us have eyes; both of us have butt cheeks; both of us have anuses. If you’re gonna say that rule about the anus then if a man kisses a woman what is to stop him from kissing another man?

Or if a man nibbles on a woman’s nipple, what’s stopping him from doing it to another man; so why is it we just zero in on the anus and decide that anything that a man does to a woman’s anus he will automatically do it to a man’s anus?”

Krystal Tomlinson interjected:

“Similarly in receiving a blow job ........ If the context is all eggs its eggs then all mouth is mouth; if you receive from a woman then you’ll receive it from a man ....... we don’t extend the logic that far.”

Colin Hines responded, “Then may God help unu” (you) and he continued that he felt anal sex is not supposed to happen and held his hardened position on the matter, he then ended by saying there is no redeeming quality in anal sex.

Audrey Cole Crosdale a social and behaviour change specialist who was a guest on the panel in the first half of the show mentioned early in the show that the anus can be considered an erogenous zone or words to such effect. She also drew an analogy of what attracts persons and things or looks that make different desirability. She mentioned socio-economic status can also be a turn on for some.

She said in part:

“A man’s anus might turn him on but he is not attracted to a man” which to me was the line for the night as it debunked the belief that sexual practice automatically determines sexual orientation especially when it comes to anal sex.

“A man who may want his woman to penetrate him it’s because he is stimulated by his anus; it turns him on because different parts of our body; some of us our breasts don’t turn us on while some of us we touch it and there is a trigger.....” she continued.

On the matter of a man on the receptive end another guest who arrived later in the show claimed that if the man penetrates a woman anally that does not mean he is gay but if he wants to have penetration done to him or if he accedes to his woman’s request or demands by her wearing a strap on for example then he is gay or inclined to have a man penetrate him. That female speaker was supposed to be a university student ...... sigh, help us lord. Fingers and other sex toys were not mentioned as part of the items substituted for such sexual play. Then came the usual “one way street barb” by the sex toy retailer, I am disappointed that for someone in the sex industry and who be of an opened mind he should be so ignorant and display such on national radio of all places; I wouldn’t patronise his shop or encourage persons to do so at all. He claimed that a woman had asked of him to perform anal sex on her and he promptly put her out of his house the evening in question as it totally turned him off.

Krystal Tomlinson was forced to do an intervention via Wikipedia as she read what the meaning of gay was and so on related to homosexuality. The discussion was trivial though in my view and the teaching moments were lost at some stages as shouting or talkover blocked the information.

Krystal asked the late arrive/female student that “.......the idea of a man surrendering his anus for penetration equals .......?

To which she answered:

“Well it takes away from what the fantasy should be.....” Dr Weeks correctly intervened and suggested the word ‘should’ was problematic as that an agreement or consent is expected by the parties involved and to each their own.

“Who makes that determination though?” asked Dr Weeks.

I pray for the day when I can hear some sensible discourse on homosexuality and anal sex more frequently and not the stuff that is broadcast these days. I recently heard Pastor Aaron Dumas aka “Tell Me Pastor” of Star News on Power 106FM with the same garbage as Colin Hines and as a psychologist correlating anal sex to homosexuality despite the fact that the Diagnostic Statistical Manual, DSM that guides all psychologists and psychiatrists does not see homosexuality as a disorder from as early as 1973; but he chooses to operate outside its sphere. He has also gone as far to encourage reparative therapy on numerous occasions despite the proof is out there that such a practice can be problematic to persons who so engage.

Sigh!

Alkaline Comes Under More Pressure for his Controversial Lyrics & Image

"Rimming" promoting DJ gets blamed for freaky singjay's ostracism & death threats

In the latest war of words with younger DJs on the scene even as more established ones also feud anti gay remarks have been thrown though not reported here towards Alkaline due to his controversial lyrics supposedly promoting anal/oral sex with females.

The latest was reported in today's star news while on social media and on Youtube the exchanges persist.

The camp of upcoming dancehall artiste Gage has responded to a recent interview done by deejay Alkaline by describing him as a copycat and fraud.

Alkaline in a recent television interview had said that he did not know who Gage was and he (Alkaline) is the only relevant dancehall artiste, except Mavado and I Octane.

However, Gage's manager, Neil Daley, who spoke on his behalf, had some strong words for Alkaline when contacted by THE WEEKEND STAR recently.

"Time will tell, he will know who Gage is. He stole Gage's song called Queng Dem and he stole Vybz Kartel's songs and style. Alkaline is nothing but a copycat, he walks and bite Vybz Kartel, you are the youngest and the foolest," Daley said.

want a clash

He continued; "Who are you? You not even reach Tommy Lee level yet and yu a try style him in interview. If you want a clash to prove your worth then step up, bring it on."

The manager in bashing Alkaline's recent performance at Sumfest, described it as a flop.

"Him nuh get nuh forward at Sumfest. But mi like how him stand up and pretend that he was getting forward. Him contacts nearly drop out of him eyes when him a kill out himself onstage and the people dem nah respond," Davis said while poking fun at Alkaline's record Touch You which speaks about anal stimulation in sex.

When THE WEEKEND STAR contacted Alkaline's publicist, Kymona Bartley, for a comment, she said she was not prepared to speak on the situation and that Alkaline is still googling 'what is a Gage'.

Alkaline is presently promoting his singles How It Feel, Queng Dem and Never End, while Gage has released new singles Thief Di Queng, Levels To This and Jah Jah.

ENDS

Earlier in the year another upcoming DJ Rime Minista also threw homophobic lyrics at the popular DJ, despite his unique looks and lyrics he has a large following even with his taboo subjected songs sometimes.

here are those two dissing tracks:

Frankly some of these youngings in the business need to take a chill pill and just do what they are doing holding their audiences, artists such as Gage is already on the rise with his own crowd what would dissing Alkaline (even if he said he was a copycat prior) do now for his career, I am sort of on the fence now with him after seeing this news.

Sad that as soon as someone talks about anal sexual play (non penetratively) he is assumed to be a homosexual, how shallow?

Carolyn Gomes resigns as JFJ Board Member, JFJ Apologises For controversial Sex Education Course

The first casualty has emerged out of this latest fiasco exactly one month after the Professor Bain matter broke in the papers thanks to the antics of CVC and others all kinds of dancing and covering up of the truth is now on as the spin doctors work behind the scene and leave the credibility of the LGBT lobby collectively looking like a bunch of deceptive no goods.

I am so distraught and upset at how all this has played out and I like many other older advocates and volunteers now feel we waisted our time in service just to watch poor management and unethical actions wipe out the results though incremental wiped out before our eyes as we have been set back psychologically some ten years, so much has happened in between the Bain issue and now in just one month exactly as it was May 18 that the former matter broke in the newspapers.

Now today the Gleaner carried this:

Jermaine Francis & Gary Spaulding, Gleaner Writers

With concerns mounting yesterday over the involvement of Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) in an explicitly worded sex-education programme, the human-rights lobby's former executive director, Dr Carolyn Gomes, has resigned as a member of its board.

JFJ has also rushed to apologise for the inclusion of the controversial content in the training course it implemented in six private children's homes eight months ago.

Word of Gomes' departure came after a meeting with the JFJ board, which accepted her resignation.

When contacted yesterday for a response to the issues surrounding the sex education course, Gomes curtly replied in a text to The Gleaner: "I am not authorised to speak for JFJ."

In April 2013, Gomes negotiated and signed the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities (CVC) Coalition contract for the contentious programme in her capacity as JFJ executive director.

In this role, Gomes, who now heads the CVC, reportedly had responsibility for developing the programme's content; negotiating the partnership agreements with the Jamaica Family Planning Association (FAMPLAN) and with the children's homes' administrators; and rolling it out to the facilities.

She was also responsible for all the administrative functions the programme required.

Gomes supervised the programme until her resignation as JFJ executive director in December 2013.

The latest events, including the JFJ's apology, come nearly a month after the May conclusion of the controversial course.

It was previously believed that the course had been scheduled to be completed next month, leading Youth Minister Lisa Hanna to, on Monday, order its immediate halt.

JFJ-SPEARHEADED INITIATIVE

The CVC Coalition, which serves as the umbrella group for the project, has also responded to the furore, which began with a Sunday Gleanerreport and continued when The Gleaner yesterday revealed elements of the course that were being taught to state wards age 12 to 18.

While it stressed that neither the Global Fund nor the CVC Coalition dictates the final training curriculum of any project, the organisation said in a release over the names of Veronica Cenac, a CVC board member, and John Waters, the group's co-chair, that the project was implemented by JFJ, with funding from the CVC under the PANCAP Global Fund Project.

"Neither the Global Fund nor CVC dictates the final training curriculum of any project," the coalition said in the release.

"The CVC component of the PANCAP Global Fund Project (Phase 1) has already been evaluated independently and adjudged to be of the highest standard in addressing the critical determinants among populations vulnerable to the HIV epidemic. The project has been commended for its work with vulnerable groups by the Office of the Inspector General of the Global Fund to Fight Tuberculosis, Malaria, and HIV."

JFJ ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY

Yesterday, the JFJ unreservedly apologised for the controversial material injected into the curriculum titled 'The Healthy Sexual Growth and Development in Marginalised Youth: Rights, Responsibilities, and Life Skills'.

"Following recent media discussions that JFJ has been providing age-inappropriate content to children in six children's homes … the JFJ Board of Directors accepts full and unconditional responsibility for not vetting the programme content and its release," stated the JFJ in a statement late yesterday.

The human-rights group said it has also extended an apology to its programme partner, FAMPLAN, which, it stated, was unaware of the inclusion of the controversial material.

"We also apologise to our other stakeholders for not first clearing with them the programme content prior to its release," the release stated.

JFJ claimed it acknowledged that a breakdown in its "usually scrupulous in-house vetting regime" had occurred.

"JFJ wishes to assure the public and its stakeholders that immediate safeguards have been reinstituted to mitigate against any recurrence of the kind," the release stated.

The JFJ said it was continuing an internal review of the entire matter and would, at the earliest opportunity, advise the public as to the result of the review and the remedial action that would be implemented.

Yesterday, civic group Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society said it was "incensed, but not surprised, at the recent news reports of unsolicited and unauthorised interventions by JFJ and the CVC in several Jamaican children's homes".

I am not authorised to speak for JFJ.

ENDS

After listening carefully an interview on radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines and then on Nationwide with representatives from Jamaicans for Justice, CVC and Family Planning Jamaica I am left that JFJ will no longer partner in any LGBT work based on the utterances by the board member with what was described as irreconcilable differences between JFJ and Mrs Gomes. The big question of the hour though is who made the changes to the slides or the curriculum that was finally presented to the wards?

Yesterday's Gleaner Headline only sought to muddy the waters even further on "Indecent Exposure"

The story read in part
"THERE ARE signs emerging that the sexual education course introduced into six private children’s homes by human-rights group Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) was hijacked by gay-rights promoters. The target group of the project was approximately 120 children aged 12 to 17 who are current wards at the Jamaica National Children’s Home, St John’s Bosco Home, Elsie Bernard Girls’ Home, Sunbeam Home for Boys, and Alpha Boys’ Home.

The programme, titled ‘Realising Sexual and Reproductive Health Responsibly: JFJ’s Pilot Intervention in Children’s Homes’, for which content was originally provided by the Jamaica Family Planning Association (FAMPLAN), was funded by the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities (CVC). Youth Minister Lisa Hanna has ordered that the six homes be told to end the course immediately. “Last year, JFJ applied for funding to support their work in children’s homes with the delivery of human-rights training in the area of sexual and reproductive health,” revealed St Rachel Ustanny, chief executive officer of FAMPLAN. “We were approached and we had an existing PowerPoint presentation laid out in an eight-module format with about six specific topics, including gender, interpersonal relationship, puberty, reproduction and advocacy – teaching young people how to advocate for themselves.”

PARTNERSHIP
Continued Ustanny: “There was a partnership between JFJ and FAMPLAN, and as part of that plan we made commitments to provide information and training to select personnel from within Jamaicans for Justice, who would be responsible for the implementation of the education programme within the homes.” The Gleaner has received copies of the course outline in which the wards of these children’s Indecent exposure Oral, anal sex acceptance sneaked into JFJ course in children’s homes were taught that “vaginal sex, anal sex and oral sex are forms of sexual penetration”, with no immediate reference to the fact that anal sex remains illegal in Jamaica. FAMPLAN has, however, distanced itself from some of the programme’s content, as two modules were added. These modules deal with the normalisation of anal sex and homosexuality.

“Clearly, there were structural and content changes that took place in terms of what was given to JFJ by FAMPLAN and what they eventually produced. “In terms of what we delivered to JFJ and what I reviewed on Saturday, there were clear insert ions. It demonstrated, too, that JFJ, as a funded organisation, was not only to deliver elements that we introduced to them ... but as a recipient of funds from CVC, they, too, would have complied,” Ustanny explained. “CVC has their own sexeducation curriculum which I think would be oriented towards their focus.”

The programme, which started last October, and was slated to conclude next month, saw the youngsters being introduced to three forms of sexual penetration and told that not all three are suited for everyone so they should discuss their preference with their partners. “Anal and oral sex have traditionally been frowned upon, but with time, these practices are becoming more accepted,” outlined the course manual as it urged the children to “use a condom and lubricant during anal sex”, to protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). A Gleaner source, who wished to remain anonymous, said the course, which was undertaken without the knowledge of the Child Development Agency (CDA) or the relevant ministry, was modified and presented as a human-rights issue.

NOT AGE-APPROPRIATE

“These were never in the FAMPLAN information and, as a matter of fact, were not age-appropriate,” said the source who noted that the entity was a major advocate of school-based comprehensive sexuality education and the need for health professionals to understand and support youth-friendly services. “But it uses age-appropriate material and would not tell a 12-year-old that anal sex is normal,” added the source. Gender was defined in the material as “the way persons choose to act out their masculinity or femininity in society. For example, a person may be born with male sex organs but may have a feminine gender and even choose to live as a woman”. The wards in the six private children’s homes where the programme was introduced were also told that they “have the right to access contraceptives, but young people are hindered from doing so because of ... minority laws”. The youngsters were, however, advised that they can utilise the “withdrawal method, where the male removes his penis......"

ENDS

Strangely the article is no longer available online on the Gleaner's site which now has me wondering what has changed within the last twenty four hours? meanwhile Hanna demands answers:

Realising Sexual and Reproductive Health Responsibly: JFJ’s Pilot Intervention in Children’s Homes

June 2014 - In the previous issue of the special edition of reform matters, the issues surrounding healthy sexual growth and development in marginalised youth were examined. This second newsletter in the series will explore Jamaicans for Justice’s pilot project in children’s home.

Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) in partnership with the Jamaica Family Planning Association (FAMPLAN Jamaica) and with the kind support of the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities (CVC) and Centro de Orientación e Investigación Integral (COIN) have combined resources to foster healthy sexual growth and development in marginalised youth in children’s homes. The ten month project spanning October 2013 to July 2014 focuses on rights, responsibilities and life skills as a result of the increase in HIV and AIDS infections in adolescents.

JFJ has been concerned with the situation of children in state care from 2001 and has since been advocating for improvements in their condition. The intervention is the first of its kind for the organisation and is being carried out in six privately run children’s homes.

Sexual and reproductive health is a human right that is not always recognised, and marginalised youth are at greater risk of not having this right realised due to limitations with age of minority laws and discriminatory practices. These limitations help to contribute to the contraction of HIV among marginalised youth. JFJ’s intervention therefore aims to promote a culture of responsibility regarding realising sexual and reproductive health in order to reduce the incidence of HIV infections in the adolescent population. In order to take steps toward realising this goal, the project has three main objectives:

1. Provide marginalised youth in children’s homes with rights-based information on sexual and reproductive rights to allow for their empowerment

2. Furnish vulnerable youth in children’s homes with knowledge and life skills to ensure their participation and enable improvements in their health seeking behaviours, access to key health and protective services and sustain healthy lifestyle practices.

3. Engage with and empower caregivers of targeted marginalised youth in children’s homes, in order for them to improve the enabling and protective environment, allowing young people to claim their sexual and reproductive rights responsibly.

The target group of the project is approximately 120 children ranging ages 12 to 17. These young people are girls and boys housed in urban and rural children homes for various reasons, including behavioural problems, neglect, abandonment, parents having died or are alive but unable to financially care for them, as well as due to physical or sexual abuse. Along with the children, approximately 80 caregivers are targeted due to them occupying a supervisory and in loco parentis role in relation to the children. It is due to these roles why it is imperative that the caregivers also receive the training.

After receiving training from CVC-COIN and being aided by FAMPLAN Jamaica in October of last year to develop the curriculum for the project, JFJ’s facilitators began implementing the intervention the following month. Caregivers of the homes, including teachers and other staff members who interact with the wards, were the first to receive intense training in human rights, sexual and reproductive health issues affecting youth, and communication for providing a protective and enabling environment for wards who may need assistance. The training with caregivers was subsequently followed by sessions with the wards. Some children’s homes had wards that were being home-schooled while some had wards who attended public schools. Of those who attended public schools, some were on a shift system. These factors affected which homes were able to facilitate training on weekdays or on weekends. Sessions spanning January to May were carried out with the wards of all six privately run children’s homes. The targeted wards from these homes received education and training in: human rights; sexual and reproductive rights and responsibilities; puberty, reproduction, body image; gender relations; sexuality and society; relationships; and communication and decision-making skills. This included providing them with information on where to access youth-friendly non-discriminatory spaces that offered health and protective services.

Participatory Approach

A project of this nature required careful delivery and recognition of the input of the target group. Therefore, a participatory approach was taken with the delivery of the intervention. Participatory activities to educate adolescents on critical health issues hve been stated as one which works in reducing high risk sexual behaviour, and promote social adjustment, among other things. This participatory approach is an educational approach based on the belief that the purpose of education is to expand the ability of people to become shapers of their world by analysing the social forces that have historically limited their options. JFJ’s implementers recognised that the participation of the wards would be integral in shaping the outcomes of the project. Children have different experiences and as such approach sexual and reproductive health in their own personal way, allowing for a wealth of knowledge to be dispersed.

A participatory approach in human rights education and training promotes and values the sharing of personal knowledge and experience, encourages mutual respect and reciprocal learning, and seeks out and includes the voice of the participants in the learning process. It enables the targeted marginalised youth with different values, beliefs and backgrounds to learn effectively together and learn from each other. It encourages social analysis aimed towards empowering youth participants to develop concrete actions for social change that are in accordance with human rights values and standards.

Even though the intervention explored a range of issues, some of which resulted in the children sharing their preconceived notions, the JFJ facilitators made certain not to impose their beliefs but provided information to widen the learning scope of participants with the hope that they would use their new knowledge to shape their understanding and make better decisions.

Reception

The administrators of the homes welcomed the intervention as it was felt that it was timely and necessary for their wards. The zeal of the administrators was not at first shared by the caregivers. Caregivers were at first apprehensive about JFJ, human rights and the rights of children taking precedence over their rights which they indicated often times resulted in bias in favour of the children in many situations.

After completing the first session, the caregivers realised that they had certain misconceptions and in order to get the equity they desired, it was possible that what they needed was their own representation instead of looking for this through to the state and non-governmental organisations set up to preserve the rights of children. By the end of their training, they realised the value of the project and wished that there were more capacity building interventions for caregivers in children’s homes.

The children waited with baited breaths to see what the JFJ facilitators would bring. They turned out in their numbers for the initial sessions and seemed to like the participatory techniques employed.

As the training with the children progressed, the number of participants fluctuated due to several reasons. These included children returning home to their families, some running away, some sent to other homes as well as sessions clashing with other activities that required the attendance of some of the children.

Training sessions were at times difficult to complete due mainly to behavioural challenges presented by the children. Although these children came from a wider society with a breakdown in values and decorum, it became obvious that they also needed interventions on propriety, how to minimise confrontations, deal with conflicts and stop bullying.

At about the mid-point of the intervention, it was evident that some administrators prioritised other activities for the children over training sessions, even though initially they indicated their commitment by not only welcoming the project’s facilitators into their homes but also signing memoranda of understanding (MOUs). Priority was given to people coming to provide the children with “treats” and freebies or the mainstream academic curriculum was prioritised over the intervention which resulted, at times, in sessions having to be postponed.

By the end of the intervention, the administrators, caregivers and wards were in disbelief that it was over and were sad to see it end as they professed that they had been learning a lot.

Sustainability

The children’s homes that benefited from the intervention seemed to be devoid of long term interventions suited for their wards to function in the wider society. Education and learning should not just be about academics nor should care and protection of institutionalised children consist mainly of providing food, shelter and clothing. Priority also has to be placed on children’s complete development. The wards of the state should not leave the same way they entered the system nor should they leave in a worse state.

There exist 52 children’s homes in Jamaica: five state-run and 47 privately-run. An intervention of this nature which focuses on the healthy sexual growth and development of marginalised youth from a rights, responsibilities and life skills approach needs to be implemented in all children’s homes and even youth-populated correctional centres. Therefore, the sustainability of this intervention requires buy-in from all stakeholders especially government which has the power to facilitate this expansion. The Ministers of Education, Youth, Health, National Security and even Finance and Social Security (as risky sexual behaviour among marginalised youth impacts the country’s welfare system) need to take a vested interest in not only JFJ’s pilot intervention but in others that address the additional social issues faced by the wards and caregivers.

The impact of JFJ’s pilot intervention will only be bolstered when these other initiatives are implemented.

The next issue will focus on the lessons learnt from JFJ’s pilot project in children’s homes.

Bad Man Nuh F*** Batty (Masculine Men Don't F*** Ass) (The Fear of The Feminine in JA ) 16.04.15

A look at the fear of the feminine (Effemophobia) by Jamaican standards & how it drives the homo-negative perceptions/homophobia in Jamaican culture/national psyche.

After catching midway a radio discussion on the subject of Jamaica being labelled as homophobic I did a quick look at the long held belief in Jamaica by anti gay advocates, sections of media and homophobes that several murders of alleged gay victims are in fact 'crimes of passion' or have jealousy as their motives but it is not as simple or generalized as that.

The Hypocrisy of Jamaican Anti Gay Groups & Selective Actions of Societal Ills

The selectivity of the anti gay religious voices on so called societal ills is examined in this podcast as other major issues that require the "church" to have spoken up including sexual abuse by pastors in recent times yet mere silence on those matters is highlighted.

Why are these groups and so called child rights activists creating mass hysteria and have so much strength for HOMOSEXUALITY but are quiet on corruption in government, missing children, crime in the country and so much more but want to stop same gender loving persons from enjoying peace of mind and PRIVACY?

Also is the disturbing tactic of deliberately conflating paedophilia with same gender sex as if to suggest reforming the buggery law will cause an influx of buggered children when we know that is NOT TRUE.

MSM/Trans homeless - From gully to graveyard

When are lives interrupted be allowed a real honest chance to move from interruption to independence and stability? I just cannot tell you friends.

An article appeared in the gleaner today that just sent me into sadness mode again with this ugly business of LGBTQI homelessness. The author of the piece needs an intervention too as he (Ryon Jones) uses terms such as cross dressers and or homeless men which if transgender persons are present they cannot be described or seen as such, sigh another clear display of the lack of impact and reach of so called advocacies and advocates who are more interested in parading as working but really aint having much impact as they ought to or claim.

We are told of houses being put together from time in memorial; the Dwayne’s House project seems dead in the water, the Larry Chang (named after a JFLAG cofounder) seems stuck in the mud and Colour Pink’s so called Rainbow House seems insignificant in relation to the size and scope of the national problem. JFLAG as presented on this blog is obviously not interested in getting their hands dirty really on homelessness save and except for using the populations as cannon fodder and delegating same; as far as I am concerned presenting them as victims of homophobia which is true but where are the programs and the perceived millions donated or granted since President Obama’s visit to address LGBTQ matters?

Dr Shelly Ann Weeks on Homophobia - What are we afraid of?

Former host of Dr Sexy Live on Nationwide radio and Sexologist tackles in a simplistic but to the point style homophobia and asks the poignant question of the age, What really are we as a nation afraid of?

It seems like homosexuality is on everyone's tongue. From articles in the newspapers to countless news stories and commentaries, it seems like everyone is talking about the gays. Since Jamaica identifies as a Christian nation, the obvious thought about homosexuality is that it is wrong but only male homosexuality seems to influence the more passionate responses. It seems we are more open to accepting lesbianism but gay men are greeted with much disapproval.

Dancehall has certainly been very clear where it stands when it comes to this issue with various songs voicing clear condemnation of this lifestyle. Currently, quite a few artistes are facing continuous protests because of their anti-gay lyrics. Even the law makers are involved in the gayness as there have been several calls for the repeal of the buggery law. Recently Parliament announced plans to review the Sexual Offences Act which, I am sure, will no doubt address homosexuality.

Jamaica has been described as a homophobic nation. The question I want to ask is: What are we afraid of? There are usually many reasons why homosexuality is such a pain in the a@. Here are some of the more popular arguments MORE HERE

Sexuality - What is yours?

The Deliberate Misuse of the “Sexual Grooming” Term by Antigay Fanatics to Promote Their Hysteria

Just as I researched on-line in NOT EVEN five minutes and found a plethora of information and FACTS on Sexual Grooming (and thanks to Dr Karen Carpenter for some valuable insight I found out what Sexual Grooming was) so too must these fanatics go and do the same and stop creating panic in the country.

The hysteria continues from the Professor Bain so called protests to protect freedom of speech and bites at the credibility of the LGBT lobby collectively continues via Duppies Dupe UWI articles when the bigger principle of the conflict of interest in regards to the greater imperative of removing/preserving archaic buggery laws in the Caribbean dependent on which side one sits is of greater import when the professor’s court testimony in Belize went against the imperative of CHART/PANCAP goals is the more germane matter of which he was former head now temporarily reinstated via a court ex-parte injunction. JFLAG Excludes Homeless MSM from IDAHOT Symposium on Homelessness

Reminder

In a shocking move JFLAG decided not to invite or include homeless MSM in their IDAHO activity for 2013 thus leaving many in wonderment as to the reason for their existence or if the symposium was for "experts" only while offering mere tokenism to homeless persons in the reported feeding program. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO ENTRY HERE sad that the activity was also named in honour of one of JFLAG's founders who joined the event via Skype only to realize the issue he held so dear in his time was treated with such disrespect and dishonor. Have LGBT NGOs lost their way and are so mainstream they have forgotten their true calling?

Steps to take when confronted by the police & your rights compromised:

a) Ask to see a lawyer or Duty Council

b) Only give name and address and no other information until a lawyer is present to assist

c) Try to be polite even if the scenario is tense

d) Don’t do anything to aggravate the situation

e) Every complaint lodged at a police station should be filed and a receipt produced, this is not a legal requirement but an administrative one for the police to track reports

f) Never sign to a statement other than the one produced by you in the presence of the officer(s)

g) Try to capture a recording of the exchange or incident or call someone so they can hear what occurs, place on speed dial important numbers or text someone as soon as possible

h) File a civil suit if you feel your rights have been violated

i) When making a statement to the police have all or most of the facts and details together for e.g. "a car" vs. "the car" represents two different descriptions

j) Avoid having the police writing the statement on your behalf except incases of injuries, make sure what you want to say is recorded carefully, ask for a copy if it means that you have to return for it

Vacant at Last! ShoemakerGully: Displaced MSM/Trans Persons were is cleared December 2014

CVM TV carried a raid and subsequent temporary blockade exercise of the Shoemaker Gully in the New Kingston district as the authorities respond to the bad eggs in the group of homeless/displaced or idling MSM/Trans persons who loiter there for years.

Question is what will happen to the population now as they struggle for a roof over their heads and food etc. The Superintendent who proposed a shelter idea (that seemingly has been ignored by JFLAG et al) was the one who led the raid/eviction.

New Kingston Cop Proposes Shelter for Shoemaker Gully LGBT Homeless Population

Superintendent Murdock

The same cop who has factored in so many run-ins with the youngsters in the Shoemaker Gully (often described as a sewer by some activists) has delivered on a promise of his powerpoint presentation on a solution to the issue in New Kingston, problem is it is the same folks who abandoned the men (their predecessors) from the powerful cogs of LGBT/HIV that are in earshot of his plan.

This ugly business of LGBTQ homelessness and displacements or self imposed exile by persons has had several solutions put forth, problem is the non state actors in particular do not want to get their hands dirty as the more combative and political issues to do with buggery's decriminalization or repeal have risen to the level of importance more so than this. Let us also remember this is like the umpteenth meeting with the cops, some of the LGBT homeless persons and the advocacy structure.

Remember JFLAG's exclusion of the group from that IDAHO symposium on LGBT homelessess? See HERE, how can we ask the same people who only want to academise and editorialise the issue to also try to address their own when they do not want to get their hands dirty but publish wonderful reports as was done earlier this month, see HERE: (re)Presenting and Redressing LGBT Homelessness in Jamaica: Towards a Multifaceted Approach to Addressing Anti-Gay Related Displacement also LGBT homelessness has always been with us from the records of Gay Freedom Movement(1974) to present but the current issues started from 2009, see: The Quietus ……… The Safe House Project Closes and The Ultimatum on December 30, 2009 as carried on sister blog Gay Jamaica Watch. BUSINESS DOWNTURN FOR THE WEED-WHACKING PROJECT FOR FORMER DISPLACED ST CATHERINE MSM

As promised here is another periodical update on an income generating/diligence building project now in effect for some now seven former homeless and displaced MSM in St Catherine, it originally had twelve persons but some have gotten jobs elsewhere, others have simply walked away and one has relocated to another parish, to date their weed whacking earning business capacity has been struggling as previous posts on the subject has brought to bear.

Although some LGBT persons residing in the parish have been approached by yours truly and others to increase client count for the men costs such as gas and maintenance of the four machines that are rotated between the enrolled men are rising weekly literally while the demand is instead decreasing due to various reasons.

What to Do .....

a. Make a phone call: to a lawyer or relative or anyone

b. Ask to see a lawyer immediately: if you don’t have the money ask for a Duty Council

c. A Duty Council is a lawyer provided by the state

d. Talk to a lawyer before you talk to the police

e. Tell your lawyer if anyone hits you and identify who did so by name and number

f. Give no explanations excuses or stories: you can make your defense later in court based on what you and your lawyer decided

g. Ask the sub officer in charge of the station to grant bail once you are charged with an offence

h. Ask to be taken before a justice of The Peace immediately if the sub officer refuses you bail

i. Demand to be brought before a Resident Magistrate and have your lawyer ask the judge for bail

j. Ask that any property taken from you be listed and sealed in your presence

Cases of Assault:An assault is an apprehension that someone is about to hit you

The following may apply:

1) Call 119 or go to the station or the police arrives depending on the severity of the injuries

2) The report must be about the incident as it happened, once the report is admitted as evidence it becomes the basis for the trial

3) Critical evidence must be gathered as to the injuries received which may include a Doctor’s report of the injuries.

4) The description must be clearly stated; describing injuries directly and identifying them clearly, show the doctor the injuries clearly upon the visit it must be able to stand up under cross examination in court.

5) Misguided evidence threatens the credibility of the witness during a trial; avoid the questioning of the witnesses credibility, the tribunal of fact must be able to rely on the witness’s word in presenting evidence

6) The court is guided by credible evidence on which it will make it’s finding of facts

7) Bolster the credibility of a case by a report from an independent disinterested party.

Notes on Bail & Court Appearance issues

If in doubt speak to your attorney

Bail and its importance -

If one is locked up then the following may apply:
Locked up over a weekend - Arrested pursuant to being charged or detained There must be reasonable suspicion i.e. about to commit a crime, committing a crime or have committed a crime.

There are two standards that must be met:

1). Subjective standard: what the officer(s) believed to have happened

2). Objective standard: proper and diligent collection of evidence that implicates the accused To remove or restrain a citizen’s liberty it cannot be done on mere suspicion and must have the above two standards

 Police officers can offer bail with exceptions for murder, treason and alleged gun offences, under the Justice of the Peace Act a JP can also come to the police station and bail a person, this provision as incorporated into the bail act in the late nineties

 Once a citizen is arrested bail must be considered within twelve hours of entering the station – the agents of the state must give consideration as to whether or not the circumstances of the case requires that bail be given

 The accused can ask that a Justice of the Peace be brought to the station any time of the day. By virtue of taking the office excluding health and age they are obliged to assist in securing bail

"Bail is not a matter for daylight

Locked up and appearing in court

 Bail is offered at the courts office provided it was extended by the court; it is the court that has the jurisdiction over the police with persons in custody is concerned.

 Bail can still be offered if you were arrested and charged without being taken to court a JP can still intervene and assist with the bail process.

Other Points of Interest

 The accused has a right to know of the exact allegation

 The detainee could protect himself, he must be careful not to be exposed to any potential witness

 Avoid being viewed as police may deliberately expose detainees

 Bail is not offered to persons allegedly with gun charges

 Persons who allegedly interfere with minors do not get bail

 If over a long period without charge a writ of habeas corpus however be careful of the police doing last minute charges so as to avoid an error

 Every instance that a matter is brought before the court and bail was refused before the accused can apply for bail as it is set out in the bail act as every court appearance is a chance to ask for bail

 Each case is determined by its own merit – questions to be considered for bail:

a) Is the accused a flight risk?

b) Are there any other charges that the police may place against the accused?

c) Is the accused likely to interfere with any witnesses?

d) What is the strength of the crown’s/prosecution’s case?

 Poor performing judges can be dealt with at the Judicial Review Court level or a letter to the Chief Justice can start the process

Battle Lines Javed Jaghai versus the state & the Jamaica Buggery Law

Originally aired on CVM TV December 8th 2013, apologies for some of the glitches as the source feed was not so hot and it kept dropping from source or via the ISP, NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED and is solely for educational and not for profit use and review. The issue of the pending legal challenge in the Constitutional Court in Jamaica as filed by Javed Jaghai an outspoken activist who happens also to be openly aetheist.

The opposing sides are covered as well such as
The Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society
The Love March
Movement Jamaica

The feature seems destined for persons who are just catching up to the issues and repositioning JFLAG in particular in the public domain as their image has taken a beating in some respects especially on the matter of the homeless MSM front. They need to be careful that an elitist perception is not held after this after some comments above simplistic discourse, the use of public agitation as beneath some folks and the obvious overlooking of the ordinary citizen who are realy the ones who need convincing to effect the mindset change needed and the national psyche's responses to homosexuality in general.
