POLICE yesterday released a composite drawing of a man they believe to be the prime suspect in the murder of British honorary consul, John Terry.
The composite drawing of the murder suspect.
Terry was found dead at his home in Mount Carey, St James, on Wednesday afternoon by his gardener.
Police yesterday described the suspect as slim built, of brown complexion, with a bleached face, and is believed to be in his early 20s.
The suspect was last seen wearing a brown shirt, brown pants, a brown cap with white on the peak and was carrying a black and grey knapsack.
Residents of Mount Carey said a man was seen running from Terry's home on Tuesday night and asked for directions to take a taxi into the nearby resort city of Montego Bay.
Terry's body was nude and he appeared to have been beaten with a blunt object. It was wrapped in a sheet and a post-mortem revealed that he was strangled to death.
A note was reportedly found on Terry's body and homicide investigators say it may provide vital clues that may lead to Terry's murderer. Yesterday, British High Commissioner to Jamaica Jeremy Cresswell expressed sorrow at Terry's death.
"We are deeply saddened that he has died in such a terrible way and it really was a wave of shock and revulsion that went through the High Commission when we heard about this," Cresswell told the Observer.
The police have asked persons with information about the suspect to call the Montego Bay Criminal Investigation Bureau at 953-6191 or 684-9080, Crime Stop at 311, or Operation Kingfish at 811.
