Object to church corruption, not just horse racing
Dear Editor,
Churches are shocked very and upset about Sunday horse racing.
But let me make this clear: if the churches are hitting out strongly against horse racing on Sundays then they should hit out also against the things which are destroying church fellowship. For example, how good, pleasant and pleasing in the sight of God it would be if the church would say: "We will not tolerate the practice of conditional love in the church, but will instead love our brothers and sisters in Christ unconditionally. We will improve and strengthen the communication link with our fellow members, unite and socialise with them and not isolate and put up barriers against them. We will not allow material things or money to dominate the fellowship of the church."
It would be better to have horse racing on Sundays than to have a church filled with members and visitors who love material things and money more than God or people. It would be better to have horse racing on Sundays than having 90 per cent of the church members who are caught up in the love of money - loving people for their possessions, for what they can get out of them or for what they can give. It will be better to have this type of gambling on Sundays until church members stop putting up barriers; stop being partial against each other for God is not partial; stop acting as if they are better than others; stop undermining, disrespecting and isolating poor people.
These are major factors that are destroying the church and causing people to turn away. Direct and indirect gambling are taking place in the church. There is also mental gambling. If churches are objecting to horse racing on the first day of the week, then they should also object to corruption in the church and be honest before God.
I am totally against horse racing on Sundays and would not like it to happen.
