As the cartoon depicts the selector/DJ holding the microphone warns that to go the police with any information on criminal activity would deem you an "informer" infama in patois or informant internationally and so you will or are to die. The culture of murder music not only covers gays as targets but also seeks to act as a psychological warning that one must not accede to the formal systems of law in certain inner city communities thus fuelling the don culture.
Targets
Gays just also happen to be included in the lot of targets for this kind of music. Jamaican culture on a whole as I see it always seems to have a prey and a victim and the cycle is played out on a daily basis, someone must always win via an aggressive means and someone must always be trodden on or loose disgracefully in some instances. The cycle of life they say but it seems more distinct and pronounced in our country.
Other targets in the name of righteousness include rapists, persons who perform oral sex, paedophiles & artist camp or entourage rivalry as obtains in the present Gully/Gaza rift between dancehall acts Mavado and Vybz Kartel. It was only recently that Mavado's vehicle was shot up.
The Rastafarian community only recently saw some of it's rowdy members joining the fray namely Buju Banton, Sizzla and Capleton who preach the "Fire message" against homosexuality and also echo the battyman fi dead (gays must die) lines as well. Murder music is also a sure way to revive an artist's fledgling career but with the increase in opposition to this kind of music from international circles which by the way is the bread and butter for many of these artistes there is a slow halt in output presently, one can expect a resurgence soon usually from new dancehall acts as they try to climb to success, some like Mavado's Dem a Fag (They are Gays) (youtube) (lyrics) and of the course the other current artists like Beenieman and Elephant Man have used this formula during their early careers. Let's see how things play out.
Boi where will it end???

This is a thoughtful piece.
The idea of disrupting Buju Banton's current tour is, apart from anything else, to show danchall that there is a price to be paid if they call for us to be burned or shot - just to make a name for themselves. They may not mean it literally, but that's not how it's perceived in foreign markets.
